LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is not scheduled to release until 22nd May, with three days Early Access for those who pay extra.
But there are a number of people already working their way through the game, after an Xbox cock up meant digital codes from Walmart could be redeemed prior to release.
The issue has since been patched, but those who take their consoles offline prior to installing the update have reported being able to continue playing unaffected. Those with auto-updates enabled have lost access.
It’s rare for situations like this to occur, but Xbox has had a nightmare weekend. Forza Horizon 6, which is coming to PS5 later this year, also leaked on PC this weekend – after an unencrypted build made its way out into the wild.
While there’s always been precedent for physical releases breaking street date and making their way into players’ hands prior to launch, we don’t recall this happening much with digital games – certainly not twice in the same weekend.
Of course, if you are conscious of spoilers, then do just keep that in mind: LEGO Batman is out there, and with its various references to the comic book character’s culture, we daresay some spoilers are going to start to circulate pretty soon.
