We distinctly remember writing about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s commitment to a second year of updates, and how impressed we were with developer Saber Interactive’s efforts… and now the team’s just casually confirmed a third year of support.
As it turns out, Space Marine 2 is doing extremely well for itself. It just reached 12 million players (which isn’t sales, but realistically, it can’t be far off), and its year two roadmap has been updated.
Most notably, the game’s Siege Mode — which is essentially made up of wave-based co-op missions — is being overhauled for a better sense of progression and gameplay variety.
The next patch will also introduce a practice arena, where you can try out different weapons against custom opponents.
On the topic of the upcoming year three, Saber writes: “Lately, our updates have been very well received by the community, which really motivates us to keep up the momentum for the third year.”
It continues: “Everything that didn’t make it into the updated Year 2 roadmap will now roll over into Year 3, even though we’re not ready to share more details just yet. Don’t worry, all content that has been postponed will remain free, as it was planned for Year 2.”
The developer says more information on year three will be shared “very soon”.
Space Marine 2 first launched for PS5 in September 2024. Since then, it’s received a slew of major updates — for free — and a bunch of paid DLC revolving around PvE and PvP cosmetics.
