Covering video game news on April 1 is a minefield. Odds are if a studio reveals something too good – or too weird – to be true, then it’s probably an April Fool’s joke. That’s why, when I first saw Konami’s James Sunderland body pillow, I chuckled and kept on scrolling. However, turns out it’s not a joke. The Silent Hill 2 companion pillow is real, and you can order your own right now.
The Silent Hill 2 Body Pillow Is Real
Judging by the body pillow’s product description, its creators planned on revealing it to the world on April 1 and knew that many would assume it’s a joke. “Yes, this is real. Yes, you can pre-order it. No, we’re not going to explain ourselves,” the description reads. “April Fools? Kind of. Emotionally devastating? Absolutely.”
The pillow is five feet long and features Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland, designed to look like he’s lying down, relaxing, his arm resting above his head. The perfect pose for you to cuddle up to if you’ve always wanted your own James Sunderland to hug, although you’ll have to be quick. Pre-orders are now open, but they won’t be around for long.
If you want a Silent Hill body pillow, you can order one now through OKS GEAR for $69.99. Sure, that’s a lot of money for a pillow, but show me where you can buy a James Sunderland body pillow for less? Exactly, that’s what I thought. Order one by April 7, 2026, though, as that’s when the body pillows will be pulled from the store and disappear forever.
James Has A History With Pillows
It’s rather amusing (is amusing the right word?) that James has been selected for pillow duty beyond the mere existence of a Silent Hill 2 body pillow being an amusing item to exist. The character’s relationship with pillows is an incredibly dark one, as (spoilers for a very old game I’m assuming most reading this have already played), James smothers his wife Mary with a pillow at the end of the Silent Hill sequel.
Silent Hill is enjoying something of a renaissance as of late. It started with the incredibly well-received Silent Hill 2 remake, that momentum continued into the brand new entry Silent Hill f, and hopefully, Silent Hill: Townfall will make it a hat trick. That renewed interest in the series might explain why we’re getting so much quirky merch. The body pillow follows in the horrifying footsteps of a plush based on the first boss you ever meet in a Silent Hill game, the Split Head.
