The starting stats for your Rogue are important, and you’ll want to prioritize Dexterity, Constitution, Strength, and Charisma. Wisdom and Intelligence are at the lower end of the spectrum, but you can alternate as needed so long as your Dexterity and Constitution take precedence.
The Rogue is the shadow of the party, so creating a character that can easily slip out of sight is a good idea. Below are the best build options to make that a reality in any encounter:

While humans are a great option due to their flexibility between classes, it’s best to have a halfling Rogue in Solasta 2 since halfings have a racial feature that allows them to go unseen by creatures they are smaller than. While not 100 percent effective, it does make it easier for them to sneak past larger enemies so they can initiate a sneak attack.
Additionally, once you reach level three as a Rogue, you can pick a subclass. There are two options to choose from, allowing you to prioritize melee and looting or magic and stealth.
Scavenger Subclass
As a scavenger, your Rogue will prioritize melee skills to trigger Sneak Attack advantage rolls. Additionally, using Surprise mechanics will catch enemies off-guard so you can deal the most damage without putting yourself at risk.
Outside of combat, the Haggler feature makes procuring party funds easier. Not only will merchants purchase things from you at a higher rate, but you’ll also receive a discount on items.
And yes, this stacks if the merchant’s faction is sympathetic to you.
Shadowcaster
The other subclass option allows your Rogue to cast spells. While you maintain the Sneak Attack mechanic, your spells will greatly increase your reach and gameplay experience.
If you’re more focused on flexibility and being able to deal damage without getting your hands dirty, this is the class you want. It’s flashy and stealthy at the same time, allowing you to pick up cantrips like Shadow Dagger for more flavor while still supporting the party.
Which Subclass Should You Pick?
Overall, the best subclass for a Rogue is the Shadowcaster subclass. It creates a party member who can deal exceptional melee and magic damage with the added bonus of sneak attack damage.
Unless you’re going into extreme detail to fine-tune your party members and have multiple casters already, the Scavenger subclass falls short of the Shadowcaster option. Beginners and veterans alike will appreciate the fluidity and combat capabilities that a spell-slinging rogue brings to the table.
