Which Nintendo Characters Have Yet To Be In A Super Mario Movie?

With the arrival of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, we’re more than excited to be seeing faces new and old up on the silver screen when the Super Mario Galaxy Movie launches in theaters around the world in April 2026, but we know there will be a few favorite faces still missing, too.

But with the near certainty that there will be another Mario movie someday down the line, we imagine Nintendo will go plumbing for characters before long, and we’ve got a handful of favorite Mario characters from along the way that we’d love to see make their debut.

E. Gadd

We’d Go See A Luigi’s Mansion Movie

Luigi’s Mansion will always have its place in the hearts of Nintendo fans, and the quirky old scientist who gave everyone’s favorite player-two character his iconic vacuum backpack was none other than E. Gadd, the bespectacled old man who’d shine on the big screen without a doubt.

Mario’s Best Power-Ups, Ranked

Here are the best power-ups in the Mario video games!

Even if they don’t do a full Luigi’s Mansion movie, we don’t doubt there’s a way to use a wacky old scientist for the plot of a potential third Mario movie. The Mario Bros. will surely need a gadget or two for whatever plot is sure to come, and who better to make it?

The Koopa Kids

Five More Chances For Comic Mischief

While we are excited to finally be seeing Bowser Jr. in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Bowser’s still got a clan of five other little Koopas that are just waiting for their moment in the spotlight: the Koopa Kids.

These five colorful Koopas are all named after iconic rock musicians of yesteryears in the West, and any of them that are still alive and willing to make a cameo could be a really fun Easter egg for the parents and grandparents taking their little ones to see a potential third Mario movie as well.

Toadsworth

Princess Peach’s Iconic Elderly Advisor

Don’t get us wrong – we know we’ve already seen plenty of Toads in the first Mario movie, and we know we’re sure to see even more in the second, but if you ask us, there’s one iconic Toad that we see plenty of uses for when Princess Peach is involved.

Toadsworth is Peach’s trusty Toad advisor who arrives on Isle Delfino with her and Mario in Super Mario Sunshine, one of the most beloved Mario titles of all time, and with such a fun role and design, there’s no reason not to add him into the mix if Peach needs a bit of sage advice someday.

Toadette

The Best Girl

If we’re talking about the most easily recognizable Toads in the Mushroom Kingdom, though, Toadette may just take the cake with her ultra-cute design – those bobbing pink braids and her bright, bubbly attitude would be a dream to see on the silver screen!

Toadette could realistically serve a plethora of purposes in a future Mario movie: she could be the one to give out a star a la Mario Party, a helping hand on a counsil of some sort in the Mushroom Kingdom, and plenty of other fun ways to bring her to the big screen.

Birdo

Let Her Show Off That Rock In The Spotlight!

We already know Yoshi will have a major role in the second Super Mario movie, but if he ever needs a friend or a sidekick outside of everyone’s favorite plumber, then we already know who we’d nominate for the role: the ever-sassy, iconic hot pink Birdo.

Birdo’s role has always been a strange on in the Nintendo canon, but no matter how you choose to use them in the plot, we’d love to see how the big red bow, colossal ring, and iconic poses translate onto the big screen.

Daisy

Princess Of Sarasaland, Princess Of Our Heart

Introduced in Super Mario Land almost 40 years before we’re writing this list, Daisy has long been snubbed when it comes to the Mario games. She was introduced to the side games – the Party and sports titles – as another humanoid character to balance out the creatures, and she’s still around today because she helps parents stop their kids from fighting about who gets to be the princess.

But Daisy is an icon in her own right, a tomboy more than capable of holding her own and sassing her way through it, and we’d love to see her do it on the big screen some day. Plus, she’s to Luigi what Princess Peach is to Mario, so if they ever need someone for Luigi to bring to a double date…

Wario

Mario’s Other Foil

Boisterous and loud, cackling and round, just about every Mario fan knows a thing or two about Wario, the negative version of Mario who’s long served as one of the other major antagonists in the Mario canon.

We’ve already had quite the adventure with Bowser as the big bad in the original Super Mario movie the way he typically tends to be when Mario is concerned, but if they ever need a way to spice up the plot for a change of villainous pace, we know just the character on whom they can call.

Waluigi

He’s Been Neglected For Long Enough

You won’t put him in a mainline game. You won’t put him in Super Smash Bros. You can’t even put him on the silver screen? Nintendo, adding Waluigi to anything is almost guaranteed to print money – we’re begging you to give our favorite lanky man his time to shine.
