It’s been announced that Ken Kutaragi, nicknamed the “father of PlayStation”, will be a keynote speaker at the UK’s Game Republic New Horizons event later this year.
Taking place in October, he will be joined onstage by Chris Dring of The Game Business in an interview about his career. There will be a meet-and-greet afterwards.
In a statement, Kutaragi says he’s “absolutely delighted” to be part of the show, which is set to take place in the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough. “I am looking forward to sharing my experience and lifetime of innovation and my insights on future opportunities with all the attendees.”
Kutaragi is best known for stewarding the early days of PlayStation, overseeing the creation of the PS1, PS2, and PS3 during his time at Sony.
He left in 2007 and has remained within the realm of technology, currently serving as CEO of Ascent Robotics and Cyber AI Entertainment.
We imagine his interview will touch upon his time at the top of PlayStation; hopefully it’ll prove to be an insightful interview. Something to look forward to, at least!
