Things To Know While Playing Raccoin For The First Time

Things To Know While Playing Raccoin For The First Time

Whether you have ever played with a real coin pusher machine or not, we are sure that you have never experienced something like Raccoin. This title picks up on the basic premise of those machines, but puts infinite twists on it by adding coins with supernatural effects, prizes that let you break the rules, and a lovely cast of animals with different abilities.

While this is an easy-to-learn game with a proper tutorial, the myriad systems in play here can leave you confused about how some things work or what you can do with the coins. Let’s go over some beginner tips and tricks for your first hours in Raccoin.

Learn How To Throw Coins

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (3)

You don’t need to actively do many things while playing your first runs of Raccoin, so you can take your time for one thing: learning how to throw coins. You do this by pressing your left and right clicks, or by pressing Q and E.

The thing is, depending on the position of the upper board, your coins will reach the sides of the machine or stop in the middle. If you want the former, you need to throw the coin to the desired side as the upper board moves toward you. But if you want the latter, you have to throw the coins from either side as the upper board is going backward.

Learning how to accumulate coins in different spots will make you score coins on specific sides, which will help you get any ball prizes around or score your most valuable coins.

Don’t Spend All Your Tickets At First

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (8)

For your first ~two rounds, unless you have free things to buy, you can practically skip the shop. At least for your first runs. The reason is that you don’t get many tickets at first, and buying a single special coin could take most of the balance of tickets you have. Tickets not only work for buying at the shop, but also for exchanging them for coins when you need extra ones.

So, keeping this in mind, wait a few rounds before buying anything. As a rule of thumb, I usually start buying when I have at least 50 tickets.

Keep Your Score Rate In Mind

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (2)

As you discover the ridiculous amount of coins in Raccoin, you’ll see that most of them have unique effects that add value to themselves or other coins. You might think that your main objective should be having the coins with the most value. That can be correct for a few playstyles and contexts, but we would strongly recommend that you focus on your Score Rate.

Score Rate is the value of your score multiplier, meaning that the value of your coins will be multiplied by it. This doesn’t apply only to your special coins, but also to all your regular ones — so basically, every coin on the board. It’s better to have a high multiplier than single coins with high values — though the perfect scenario is to have a strong balance of both, of course.

The Bullish Coin is one of the best special coins for this at first, since it increases your Score Rate by one just for being in play.

Purchase Horizontal Clip Expansions At First

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (9)

When you start playing Raccoin, one of your objectives should be picking up every new special coin that you can. The idea is to learn all their effects as soon as possible, so you know which ones adapt more to your playstyle. Also, you unlock new coins and other items by doing this.

To help you with this, you need to buy Clip Expansions. They come in two forms: vertical and horizontal. The former will let you have more copies of the same coins, while the latter will allow you to buy more different ones. As you only get to buy a maximum of six expansions per run, and this doesn’t discriminate between the two forms, you should focus on horizontal ones.

If A Killer Coin Appears, Buy It

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (5)

Every few rounds, you’ll get Bad Coins. There are many different specimens of this category, and they can ruin your run with effects such as destroying every coin that is falling off the machine or halving your score. So, you need to do something to avoid that.

That’s where Killer Coins come to play. While there are some other coins with similar effects, the most common one you’ll find is this raccoon. It will help you by defeating six Bad Coins nearby.

Remember our previous tip of not buying anything on your first visit to the shops? Well, you break that rule if you can buy Killer Coins and stock them for when the time comes.

There’s also a Chip that will automatically remove your Bad Coins for one round. However, it’s not that common, so you should stick with the Killer Coin.

Enter The Shop Quickly After Each Round

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (1)

Each round in Raccoin is supposed to end when you reach the target score. However, something that the game is a bit ambiguous about is that you can delay when you start the next round, as the machine will continue to work and move the available coins.

We recommend that you avoid doing this and press Enter Shop as soon as it becomes available. You see, while all the special coins and items that you have on the board will still be there for the next round, you won’t get any bonus* for going over the score. And if the Wheel Spin is activated, you’ll be blocked from closing the round until the wheel finishes.

Some chips work when you reach a percentage above the target score, but those are the only exceptions.

That’s why you have to finish the round as soon as possible every time, so you can leave the coins that are about to fall for your next round and start with some good points.

Infinity Squishie Is The Best Modifier

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (7)

As you play more runs, you’ll unlock Modifiers, which are special items that you attach to a special coin to add a new effect to it. One of the best ones you’ll find is called Infinity Squishie.

With Infinity Squishie, you’ll be able to have a special coin that always returns to your clip once it falls out of the machine, is absorbed, or leaves the board for any other reason. Basically, it becomes eternal, and when you have a special coin like Sun that can drastically change your board and enhance the other coins you have in play, you’ll love to have this one returning all the time.

Don’t Let The Angry Blowfish Keychain Go Away

Raccoin Beginner Tips Guide (6)

Every time you pass some rounds, you’ll get a Keychain, which gives you a permanent reward for the rest of the run. There are many useful Keychains, such as Dog Food, which gives you unlimited auto-fills. But when you’re starting the game, you should focus on the Angry Blowfish.

This helpful buddy will drastically increase the area of effect of your prizes. It might not sound like a lot at first, but when you start receiving many prizes that absorb all the coins in a certain area, you’ll end up loving this upgrade.
