CD Projekt Red fans just never learn, do they? And I happily count myself amongst them.
The developer has announced a livestream for the 28th May, celebrating the tenth (tenth!) anniversary of The Witcher 3’s second expansion, the outstanding Blood and Wine.
There is nothing to suggest that this will be anything other than a few developers sitting round a screen and regaling viewers with their memories of the adventure — but that hasn’t stopped fans from losing their minds over a potential DLC tease or reveal.
If you have no idea what I’m on about, rumours of a DLC — a brand new DLC — for The Witcher 3 have been doing the rounds for months now.
The rumours come from some pretty solid sources as well, who claim that CD Projekt Red has had something in the works for a while. The DLC will supposedly bridge the gap between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4.
The thing is, the studio’s been radio silent for ages, outside of its usual community-focused social media posts and investor reports. So the sudden reveal of a “special” livestream has been more than enough to get onlookers worked up.
But as alluded, we’ve been here before. Numerous times. CD Projekt Red can’t so much as post a few words without the internet thinking it’s a hint towards some grand plan.
Maybe I’m being overly cynical, but I would advise against getting your hopes up. If this DLC really does exist, then I’d keep an eye on the big shows that are incoming, like Summer Game Fest.
