It seems likelier by the second that Wario, Mario’s mustachioed menace, will appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. That’s fresh from a strange little moment with Chris Pratt and Charlie Day, who appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night gig, The Tonight Show.
Is it confirmation? Heavens, no. Is it really starting to seem like the yellow-clad nemesis is popping up? Heavens, yes. Here’s the scoop.
Yes/No
Kotaku caught sight of the interesting “plot beat,” wherein Pratt and Day, buzzing buttons shaped like a red shell and a question mark block, as they answered “yes” or “no” respectively. Fallon piled on the queries concerning the upcoming movie, and so many of them were question mark blocks.
And then came the bit that’s suddenly going viral for all the right reasons. The question? Are Wario and Waluigi in the movie. The answer? Both buttons were pressed simultaneously. The significance? A UK-based cinema chain’s description of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie straight-up cites Wario as appearing. There’s always an outside chance it’s wrong, but… it’s a pretty slim one, right?
If only they’d been asked whether Wario was in, then whether Waluigi was in. Perhaps that was the plan before Nintendo noticed the ask sheet. Who knows?
There’s Hope For Devito Wario Yet, As Apparently We Haven’t Seen All Of The Mario Galaxy Movie’s New Characters
The pop in theaters when Wario appears will be deafening.
