When you begin a run in Raccoin, the first thing you’ll be tasked with is choosing the character you’d like to play as. There are six characters to choose from in total, and you’ll need to reach a specific round with the previous character to unlock the next one.
Every character has unique specialties and specific power-ups that will be more likely to spawn when you’re playing as them. So, while there’s no wrong choice, there certainly are some that will offer you the best chance of not only completing your run but also beating your high score.
How The Tiers Work
As mentioned, there are six characters you can choose from in Raccoin, and the game will require you to play at least one run with each of them, so you’ll have a chance to get to experience all of them. Some offer the benefit of being more straightforward, which can be advantageous for those who struggle with complex requirements, but these characters often simultaneously have a difficult time reaching higher scores than those that do thrive in chaos.
With all that in mind, ease of use, the potential to break high scores, and the power-ups tied to each character will all play a factor in where they rank on this tier list. As is always the case, the S+ tier will be the best of the best for just about any player, while characters that rank below that are more situational and may be best suited for players approaching with an intended strategy in mind.
Raccoin: How To Summon A UFO
Raccoin is filled with a ton of beautiful chaos, but if you’d like to add even more to the mix, try summoning a UFO to collect or drop coins for you.

Chemist |
If you thrive in the chaos of Raccoin, then the Chemist is the one character you simply can’t go wrong with. A major part of Raccoin is speed and strategy. You never want to lose momentum, but you also don’t want to be careless, and the Chemist offers that perfect balance for any type of player. Being the third character that you unlock, the Chemist can appear complex to use, but it does offer just enough variety that you don’t necessarily need to go in with a specified strategy to make the most of it. The Chemist is all about reactions, which means a ton of explosions, shaking the cabinet, and causing all-around destruction, which also means a ton of collected coins. Between that and the fact that one of its skills is stacking modifier prizes, the Chemist is likely the first character you’ll be seeing your score skyrocket with. Plus, it’s just fun to use. |

Trader |
The Trader is where things start to get a bit complicated. This character offers a lot of potential, almost game-breaking potential, but at the cost of requiring careful strategy, which can end up making for a bit of a boring run, even though you’re constantly spinning the wheel. If you’re looking to continuously break your own record or dive into a continuous, never-ending run, then this is the character to choose. The Trader allows you to accrue Spin Energy faster and can potentially score you some free shop items, which can end up putting you into a bit of an endless loop when combined with the common power-ups for this character. That said, if you’re not necessarily looking for that level of intensity and enjoy a more casual number-go-up play session, then you’re probably better off using someone else. |
|
Big Eater |
The Big Eater is the last character you’ll unlock in Raccoin, and as you’d expect, it’s the most complex. This dog is focused on food coins and combining them to get the most value. In this way, it’s somewhat similar to the Biologist’s animal coins, but a lot less annoying. The Food Coins are a lot more versatile and work with a wider variety of other Food Coins, so there isn’t as much specific pairing going on to achieve the desired results. However, if you want to strategize, you absolutely can with the number of recipes available to you. All in all, this is another genuinely fun character that can be as simple or complex as you’d like it to be. Regardless, you’ll still be able to make the most of this character. |

Manager |
The Manager is the first character you’ll play as in Raccoin and is unlocked automatically. With that in mind, this is also the easiest character to play as. So, for the sake of being extremely accessible, the Manager ranks a bit higher than it would otherwise. That said, the reason it doesn’t quite reach S is that the skills that the Manager is equipped with are geared more towards helping you reach the end of a run and not necessarily earn a high score. Now, it’s not impossible to earn a high score with the Manager, but with such a heavy focus on Tickets, this character is best for casual players who want to enjoy the game and win their runs, but aren’t necessarily looking to push the limits of Raccoin. |
|
Astronomer |
Following the Trader, the Astronomer feels a bit like a breath of fresh air, as you’ll be getting right back into some of the fun chaos you experienced with the Chemist. The Astronomer’s primary gimmick is that it specializes in Astro coins, which means a majority of the Special Coins it spawns will have Astrofall and can land anywhere on the coin pusher. Like the Chemist, the Astronomer has a level of chaos that doesn’t entirely allow you to strategize, which makes it less than ideal for dedicated players. That said, things also don’t just happen the way they seem to do with the Chemist either, so it’s not as great for new or casual players either. Overall, the Astronomer unfortunately ends up being a slightly worse variant of the S+ tier character. |

Biologist |
Unfortunately, the Biologist ranks the lowest among the group. While that doesn’t necessarily mean this is a bad choice, it just means it’s likely only a good choice for players who simply enjoy the play style of this character, and not those looking to reach high scores and improve their win/loss rate. The Biologist puts a lot of focus on animal and plant coins, and the biggest hindrance there is that a majority of them need other corresponding coins in play for you to get the most out of them. Additionally, the Biologist is less likely to spawn valuable gameplay coins like the Multicoin and Killer Coin. Overall, this character is the most specific in terms of its gimmick while simultaneously not offering enough to make it worth mastering, which is why it places in B. That said, if you truly enjoy this character, then you can still do decently well with it. |
