Ubisoft is currently running playtests for a multiplayer Assassin’s Creed title codenamed Assassin’s Creed Invictus, and they’re reportedly going so badly that the possibility of the project being cancelled is doing the rounds.
YouTuber xJ0nathon first reported over the weekend that some tests were conducted on 30th April 2026, but they were “really f**king awful. It’s supposed to come out by the end of the year, but there’s a good chance it’ll get delayed or even cancelled.”
Insider Gaming picked up the claim and expanded on the situation through conversations with its own sources. While it’s been told the project “does have some potential”, it’s apparently in a worse state than you’d expect for a game that’s been in development for many years. It’s suffered “several” delays during production.
The multiplayer spin-off has been described as an Assassin’s Creed take on Fall Guys, but it supposedly doesn’t have a cartoonish art style. Instead, the comparison comes from the claim that it’s a knockout round-based game. The website claims the project is led by For Honor developers who are hoping to replicate the live service success of that game.
