Arghhh!
1995’s World Heroes Perfect, the fourth and most complete entry in SNK’s time travelling fighter franchise, is getting an updated re-release with rollback netcode – but you won’t be able to play it on the PS5.
While technically all four games in the franchise are purchasable on the PS Store via Hamster’s ACA Neo Geo line, this version will feature modern multiplayer modes, including lobbies with support for up to nine players.
Here’s a quote from the blurb:
“World Heroes Perfect, the legendary 1995 arcade fighting game, is now coming to Steam! Widely praised as the pinnacle of the series that thrilled countless fighting-game fans, the game returns with modern upgrades, including a Practice Mode and online battles with rollback netcode. While keeping the original’s graphics and gameplay intact, the new rollback netcode ensures smooth and responsive online matches.”
It’s actually the third title in the Neo Geo Premium Selection line, following on from Real Bout: Fatal Fury 2 and Kizuna Encounter. So far, all of these games have released exclusively on PC.
In addition to the aforementioned online modes, this re-released World Heroes Perfect will also feature a training mode, so you can dial in your skills.
All of the original characters will be featured, including Zeus who was previously only playable in the SEGA Saturn port.
How do we convince SNK to bring these ports to the PS5? There simply has to be an audience for them on consoles, especially with crossplay, right? Share your suggestions in the comments section below.
