Pokopia’s Peakychu Looks Sick Because It Gave All Its Power To Other Pikachu

Pokopia’s Peakychu Looks Sick Because It Gave All Its Power To Other Pikachu

Pokemon Pokopia launched yesterday and was well received by critics and fans alike. In fact, it’s currently tied with Pokemon Y as the best reviewed Pokemon game of all time. Clearly, there’s something joyful about building a Pokemon community in a post-apocalyptic world. However, not everything about Pokopia is joyful.

One of the special Pokemon you can come across is Peakychu, a rather pale Pikachu with drooping ears and a smaller tail. It looks like it’s unwell, but seems happy enough in the game. However, it turns out that Peakychu has a rather tragic backstory, and fans can’t help but cry their eyes out.

Peakychu Shared All Its Electricity With Its Sick Friends

It turns out Peakychu looks like this because it used up all its power by constantly sharing it with other sick Pikachu. The poor darling lost its bright yellow colour, rosy cheeks, and even the size of its tail because it was helping out friends in need. Damn these ninjas cutting onions!

Fans can’t seem to handle this sad backstory, especially since it involves the IP’s lovable mascot. “Isn’t this game meant for children? Why is everything so traumatic?” commented one player on Twitter. “That’s so sweet of this Pokemon to do that for anybody,” said another. Clearly, Peakychu is going to become a fan-favourite, and everyone will protect it with their lives.

If you really want to give Peakychu a hug, it already has a plush, along with Mosslax and Professor Tangrowth. Until then, make sure you keep it safe and happy in your new Pokemon community.

Speaking of joyous things being ruined, Pokemon Pokopia’s whimsical font was used by the White House’s Twitter handle in its latest attempt to use video games to push its message. This isn’t the first time it has happened; the White House has previously used games like Halo and Call of Duty. Nintendo has since released a statement distancing itself from the messaging.
