PlayStation Store Axes More Shovelware Games, Including Jesus Simulator

Various games were delisted from Sony’s PlayStation Store over the weekend, but it’s unlikely you intended to play any of them. This latest wave of removals is part of Sony’s recent efforts to stop low-quality games from being sold on its storefront.

As reported by Eurogamer, and first spotted by a member of the PSNProfiles forum, three different publishers have had their games removed: GoGame Console Publisher, VRCForge Studios, and Welding Byte, previously known as RandomSpin Games.

Removed games include the newly released Jesus Simulator, which lets players perform miracles, such as walking on water. The game didn’t appear to be a big sales hit, but its quirky concept proved popular online, garnering over 100,000 views on the YouTube trailer.

Jesus Simulator is published by VRCForge, which previously sold Racing Car Chaos: Extreme Stunt Showdown, Supermarket CEO Simulator (PS5 stack), and Water Blast Shooter – Wet Gun across PlayStation consoles.

GoGame Console had one game removed, Urban Driver Simulator (PS5 stack), while multiple games from Welding Byte are affected, including Drift Highway: Retro Console Edition, Horrorillo Brainrotillo, I Am Busy Digging a Hole, and Stunt Race.

It appears Sony made the changes on April 4, and so far, there haven’t been any other reports of other publishers being affected.

In late March, Sony removed 700 titles from the PlayStation Store, purging all listings from publisher Nostra Games. The publisher said Sony didn’t provide a reason for the removal, but it planned to continue selling its games on Nintendo and Xbox consoles, as well as on Steam for PC players.

Earlier this year, one publisher saw over 1,000 games removed from sale in one swoop. The titles were published by ThiGames, which had a series in which you played as jumping foodstuffs. The low-effort titles were named variations of The Jumping Hot Dog, The Jumping Taco, The Jumping Fries, and so on.
