Nothing Removes Its New File Transfer App Less Than a Day After Launch

UPDATE 4/16: Less than 24 hours after launch, Nothing has removed its new Warp file transfer tools without sharing why. The Google Play Store download, Chrome extension listing, and blog posts about the new feature have all been removed, leaving fans asking why they’re no longer available.

PCMag has asked Nothing for clarification on why the tools were pulled and whether it intends to reintroduce them at a later date. We will update this story when we hear back.

Original Story 4/15:
AirDrop sharing is now available on Samsung phones, which may have encouraged Nothing to improve its interoperability and sharing tools, but the company is doing things differently.

A new service called Nothing Warp will help you move files, links, copied text, and images between your mobile devices and your computer. It’s compatible with Linux, macOS, Windows, and all modern Android phones and tablets.

Warp works through a Chromium extension, meaning you’ll need to use Arc, Brave, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or other similar browsers to access it.

On your Android device, you’ll use a dedicated app called Nothing Warp beta and sign in with the same Google account on both devices. An option in your Android’s share menu labeled Nothing Warp lets you share each file from your phone.

Three methods let you share from your computer to your phone: opening the extension and pressing Upload, right-clicking highlighted content and selecting Send with Nothing Warp, or pasting text directly into the extension window.

Nothing says privacy is key here, promising it won’t store any of your files itself, instead using your own Google Drive to keep the data within your own ecosystem.

This is one of the easiest ways to transfer files from Android to a computer, especially if you own a Mac. So far, there’s no sign that Nothing plans to introduce AirDrop on its phones. Nothing calls this an “early community project,” so you may encounter some bugs if you start using it immediately. Nothing encourages users to send feedback that would help Warp improve.
