You can now play Time Crisis on PS5 and PS4, and that’s certainly cause for celebration. The arcade shooter remains an all-timer, and you can either grab it from the PS Store standalone, or claim it through a PS Plus Premium subscription.
But it’s just such a shame that publisher Bandai Namco simply refuses to add Trophy support to its line of PS1 and PS2 classics. Needless to say, Time Crisis opts to skip digital trinkets altogether.
It’s frustrating, because the Japanese company’s one of the best around when it comes to actually greenlighting its old games through the classics initiative.
Time Crisis follows in the footsteps of other beloved Bandai Namco revivals, such as Tekken 2, Tekken 3, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, and SoulCalibur 3. None of them have launched with Trophy support.
There’s a chance that Trophies will be patched in at some point down the line, but that’s starting to feel extremely unlikely, considering the total lack of acknowledgement from Bandai Namco up until now.
And before the usual suspects start piping up in the comments, yes, you and I know that Trophies don’t make a game. You don’t need to be unlocking Trophies to enjoy a title — especially when you’re primarily playing for the sake of nostalgia.
But Trophies would be nice, wouldn’t they? There’s nothing wrong with a little extra incentive, and let’s face it, both PlayStation and Bandai Namco will be missing out on easy sales from Trophy enthusiasts here.
It’s always seemed like a crazy thing to pass up on for no discernible reason.
