New inFAMOUS PS5 Project Rumours Give Fans Fresh Hope

inFAMOUS PS5

An inFAMOUS project, be it a new game or remakes of old ones, is currently in development at PlayStation, according to VGC scribe Jordan Middler.

Speaking during the website’s latest podcast episode, Middler said he’s “under the impression that there is an inFAMOUS thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute”, suggesting the game isn’t being led by Sucker Punch, the series’ original developer.

A few hours following the publication of the podcast, Kinda Funny host Greg Miller called Middler during an episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast and asked him to elaborate on the claim. There, he said the suggestion is only based on a single source, and he hasn’t been able to corroborate it yet.

However, based on what he was told, Middler assumed it to be a remake of the two PS3 games for PS5. “That wasn’t told to me directly, but that was very much implied.” The journalist then warns there’s a chance the project could have been cancelled by now, but that’s what he’s heard.

In the wake of the claim made in the past 24 hours, inFAMOUS fans have been rallying across social media and Reddit in the hope the claim becomes true. Fans are pleading PlayStation for remakes of the first two titles, something that the fanbase has proposed in the past.

Fan opinion is slightly more split on Reddit, where the inFAMOUS subreddit has a post set up about the rumour. “I really hope its real, I’d love remakes of 1 and 2 or a direct sequel to Second Son,” said Sraffiti_G.

On the other hand, Walkingguy86 is expressing caution: “If Sucker Punch isn’t connected, then frankly, I want nothing to do with it. And at this point, I’m beyond holding out hope for a remaster of 1 or 2. As old as those games are, it would probably be more cost-effective to just remake them from the ground up.”

Back in 2022, Sucker Punch confirmed it had “no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper” at the time, and there weren’t any other developers “working on projects related to those franchises either”. That was four years ago, so things may have changed since then. After all, the studio was adamant it would “never say never to re-opening those doors down the road”.
