After back-to-back Black Ops franchise releases, Call of Duty is going back to the Modern Warfare well for this year’s annualized title. It will be the fourth Modern Warfare game in the rebooted version of the original franchise that made Call of Duty what it is today, and if word from typically reliable insider CharlieIntel is to be believed, it’s coming in October.
Taking to social media, in response to a Call of Duty insider soliciting predictions for when the next title will release, CharlieIntel revealed that the calendar’s 10th month will be the landing spot for Modern Warfare 4.
While Call of Duty has typically claimed November as its annual landing spot, it’s understandable that October would be the pick for this year. After all, with Grand Theft Auto 6 targeting a Nov. 19 release date, it’s probably best to steer far away from that behemoth.
Previously, another COD insider, TheGhostOfHope, reported that this next Call of Duty title will leave last-gen consoles behind and will have a more traditional UI. More recently, TheGhostOfHope, reported that MW4 is a “complete copy” of Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

As Call of Duty fans might remember, Modern Warfare 2 was criticized heavily at release, only to be followed up by an even more divisive title in Modern Warfare 3. That the two titles would be similar understandably didn’t sit well with fans.
The Next Call Of Duty Might Not Be On Game Pass
After both Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 released on Game Pass as day-and-date titles, it appears that this year’s Call of Duty could be skipping that promise. Insider Jez Corden reported that it was a “possibility” that this year’s title won’t be on the subscription service, one that promotes day-one releases from Microsoft’s umbrella of studios.
“If they take Call of Duty out of Game Pass this year, which is a possibility from what I’ve heard, I think it’ll reveal some of the cracks in the strategy,” Corden said. “But I don’t know.”
If that ends up being the case, it would be a massive blow to those who subscribe to Game Pass. However, the presence of Call of Duty on Game Pass has reportedly cut into the title’s profitability, with Black Ops 6 losing an estimated $300 million in sales.
