Living The Dream Blocks Romance Between Family Members

Living The Dream Blocks Romance Between Family Members

Tomodachi Life has always been a very, very weird series, reveling in absurdism and ridiculousness to produce a game that you can’t really find anywhere else. Living the Dream is proving to be no different, giving you an entire island to unleash your army of weirdos upon, just to see how they react to each other.

If you’re one of the more normal Tomodachi Life fans, you’ll probably use this game to recreate a bunch of your friends and family members, giving you an emotional connection to your island straight from the get-go. However, in previous Tomodachi Life games, one unpleasant result of that was the chance that two of your family members could take a liking to each other, scarring you in the process.

You could set up your own Mii to have familial relationships with certain characters, but you couldn’t change the other characters that you added, so there was always a real possibility that the Mii version of your dad could hook up with the Mii version of your sister. Yeah…

Thank God, Living The Dream Will Block Family Romances

Thankfully, it seems like that won’t be the case with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, as in a recent preview by VGC, (you can read ours here) it’s been explained that ou are able to set the relationships between all of your Miis. If you want to make a character the father of another character, you are able to do that, and any potential romances that the two could engage in are then blocked.

Not only that, but other “dating preferences” have also been put in place to immediately put a stop to awkward romances, as VGC has also revealed that you can completely halt child romances too. You can allow children to date each other, of course, but there is an option to turn that stuff off completely if you have a child that wishes to play the game themselves.

Understandably, Tomodachi Life fans are pretty thrilled with the news, especially since it kind of also means you can actually force certain Miis to gravitate towards each other romantically with this system. For example, you have people on the Tomodachi Life subreddit saying things like “My dream came true!! The prophecy foretold!”, as well as another user who is now delighted that their “cousin’s mii will finally stop asking me if he can date his sister.”

Personally, I think the more options a game has, the better, and actually being able to set relationships before you add a Mii to your island will make it so much easier to actually sculpt things the way you want. It’s a great change that Tomodachi Life fans have been wanting for a while, and now we can all play without the fear of seeing our sisters enter problematic relationships with other brothers.
