GTA6 Will Add Online “Within A Month” Of Launch, Leaker Claims

If you’ve been worried that GTA Online wouldn’t release alongside Grand Theft Auto 6, today’s report technically will not calm your mind. If, however, you suspected that the inevitably massively popular multiplayer phenomemon would not join its inevitably massively popular single-player phenomenon within a reasonable timeframe, you can breathe easy.

Mostly easy, in any case. Plans change, and AAA games development is fraught, to say the least. There’s also the usual grain-of-salt disclaimer to any claims of hush-hush insider intel, but TheGhostOfHope has proven themselves so legitimate that Activision Blizzard managed to court-order them to stop leaking Call of Duty content. So… yeah.

Gives You Time To Finish The “Actual” Game, I Suppose

“Up to you guys if you wanna believe me on this or not,” Hope says, “but hearing from someone that the current plan for GTA 6 is to launch online within a month after the release of the game.” Pretty straightforward, and from a fairly consistently reliable source. Again, things can change. But that’s the aim. And Rockstar has the fuel to potentially make it so.

There’s already precedent, too, even if I’d caution against looking at how things operated in the industry over a dozen years ago versus today. Grand Theft Online in its present incarnation, after all, launched a few weeks after proverbial mothership title Grand Theft Auto 5. I double-checked this via Wikipedia, because frankly, it’s been so long that I couldn’t recall—but it was via an exchange in TheGhostOfHope’s very own pertinent Twitter thread that this came to light for me in the first place:

“Wasn’t that the same thing with gta v? The timetables might not match 100% that’s not unprecedented for rockstar and gta,” one commenter pointed out, to which Hope replied jokingly that some people on the web have behaved as though “[O]nline coming in launch window would be mind-blowing for this game.” Yeah, I suppose not so much!

As for the eventual PC version, Hope isn’t clear, but pointed out that “another person in the community who leaked PC release is 12-18 months after.” My dear friend Brandon, if you should happen to read my article, I express my deepest condolences. I know you’ll be waiting, and honestly, you’re around 200 times more hyped for this game than I am.
