It’s been over a year since GTA 6’s last trailer, and fans are clinging to any scrap of information.
Rockstar said it will start marketing the game this summer, but last week’s Game Informer cover reveal turned out to be unrelated.
However, there was hope in some pockets of the community that today, 18th May, would finally be the day, after Best Buy communication insinuated pre-orders would go live on Monday.
But further digging from the GTA Forums, corroborated by the site’s administrators, confirms this was a distribution error, prematurely ending the dream.
Now this doesn’t necessarily mean there’ll be no GTA 6 information today, but it’s looking unlikely at this point. The game’s still officially due out on 19th November, so there’s still plenty of time for the publisher to speak.
Summer doesn’t officially get underway until at least 1st June in the Northern Hemisphere, depending on which calendar you’re using. That technically gives Rockstar a little more time, even if fan enthusiasm is already bubbling over.
The reality is that the label will have its own marketing plan, and it’s unlikely to be swayed by its community. I think our only option here is to just sit tight, and wait to see what the company has prepared for us over the coming weeks.
