Only days after one false alarm, the hardcore GTA community has convinced itself that pre-orders for GTA 6 will go live soon. Affiliates part of the Best Buy program have had emails claiming their links for GTA 6 pre-orders shall be available today, thus fuelling more fan theories.
There’s been a lot to keep up with, but what if we could have gotten all of this out of the way 18 months ago?
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, speaking in a new David Senra interview on YouTube, the game is about 18 “months behind the original date — not much more than that”. Zelnick highlights how GTA 6 has been delayed twice.
These quotes line up with the timeline of announcements Rockstar has made over the years, as GTA 6 was first slated to release in 2025, confirmed alongside Trailer 1. Then, at the start of May 2025, it was delayed to May 2026. We then saw the most recent release date update last November, which shared the current 19th November 2026 launch day.
Zelnick has always stressed Take-Two is allowing Rockstar the time to achieve “perfection” in GTA 6, as it works to complete what will likely be the biggest entertainment launch in history. Let’s hope for no more delays; we know the marketing campaign for the game is starting in the next few months.
