Gravity Rush 2 always deserved better, so I was quite excited to see Kat’s topsy-turvy sequel trending on social media this weekend.

One talented coder, Junmin Lee, has created a new fork for the ShadPS4 emulator, allowing the PS4 exclusive to run in 4K at up to 60fps on the PC.

It’s worth noting you will need an original copy of the Japan Studio game to take advantage of this, so make sure you track down a physical copy before dumping it and installing the requisite code from GitHub.

Ironically, early reports suggest the title is running beautifully on PC handhelds like the Steam Deck and ROG Xbox Ally X, so you can enjoy that classic PS Vita feeling if you so desire.

Some technical knowledge is required to get this running effectively, but there’s a Discord you can join if you need assistance from the Gravity Rush community.

The original game’s art style is timeless, so it looks beautiful here, presented at a higher resolution with various other performance improvements. Many of the touchpad controls have also been remapped if you’re using a mouse and keyboard.

Sony doesn’t seem interested in continuing this franchise – indeed, creator Keiichiro Toyama has left the company, and is working at his own indie studio, Bokeh – so I’m happy to see the community coming together to keep Kat’s legacy alive.
