Pragmata already looked and played best on Sony’s gussied-up PS5 Pro hardware, but now it’s been given an extra little bump.
You may recall from original reporting, via Digital Foundry, that the supercharged system was using PSSR2 to upscale from an 864p internal resolution up to 4K.
Given the improvements to Sony’s upscaler, this resulted in crystal clear presentation, with the ray tracing of the base PS5’s Resolution Mode retained.
But there was one issue: the lower internal resolution meant that reflections didn’t look as sharp as they could. That’s now been rectified with v1.21, which buffs the internal resolution from 864p to 1080p.
The game’s still using PSSR2 to upscale the image to 4K, but because it’s now working with more information, you get sharper reflections as a result. Win!
The one downside is that this uplift in resolution could come at the cost of some dropped frames, although VRR displays should cope with those fluctuations just fine.
You can see some side-by-side examples shared by Digital Foundry through here.
The bottom line is, if you’re yet to start this superb Capcom shooter, then you should benefit from even cleaner presentation on the PS5 Pro with this latest patch installed.
