Ever since Sony ended its most recent PlayStation State of Play with the shocking reveal that the original God of War trilogy would be entirely remade and brought forward to modern hardware, there’s been one question on everyone’s minds, and it has nothing to do with when exactly these games will release.
No, the question is whether the infamous romance mini-games that were part of PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 era titles will also be brought forward in the remake. After all, they’re from a bygone era of edginess and aren’t exactly in the best taste.

I Can Understand Remaking The Original God Of War, But The Entire Trilogy Feels Like Overkill
Sony Santa Monica has confirmed it will be remaking three legendary God of War titles.
However, at least according to the original voice of Kratos, T.C. Carson, who has been brought back to lend his vocal chops for the remake trilogy, there’s as good a chance as any that these mini-games will return.
As first shared by IGN, in a recent panel at MegaCon Orlando, Carson was asked directly if he thinks that they will make a comeback. To which he replied:
“You know what? All you dudes, all you men — I think so.”
Now, there’s a slim chance that Carson doesn’t know either and is simply playing the bit. But there’s also a reality where he’s seen the scripts and will have to re-lend his voice for the pre-mini-game cutscene.
After the audience reacted, Carson was quick to reiterate that those were just his thoughts, so take that as you will.
Your guess is as good as mine, and only time will tell whether the remake trilogy will have the mini-games. It’s also probably not something Sony will come out and confirm one way or the other, so until there are some leaks or someone finds out on release, this is as good of information we’ll probably get.
Those Mini-Games Were Reportedly Designed By Women
As easy as it is to assume that these mini-games were designed by men, that apparently is not the case.
“Fun fact: the God of War sex mini-games were designed by women,” Alanah Pearce, a former writer at Sony Santa Monica, said. “In fact, I worked with one of them. They were largely worked on by women on that dev team.”
