If there’s one thing that gamers do better than anyone else, it’s making their voices heard. Whether that’s through an old-fashioned “Review Bomb,” or by simply choosing not to purchase something by voting with their wallets, gamers are never shy about making their voices heard. If all goes to plan, Fortnite is about to find out.
That’s because, as first spotted by PC Gamer, Fortnite players are organizing a boycott of the game in response to Epic Games’ decision to increase the prices of V-Bucks, the free-to-play live-service battle royale’s primary currency.
Officially titled “You cut our V-bucks, We cut your funding,” the boycott is meant to coincide with the scheduled date for these price increases to take place, March 19.
A Change.org petition, which has 1,156 signatures at the time of writing, has also been established. All these efforts in hopes that Epic Games could rethink its decision before it goes into effect.

If Players Could See Highguard’s Failure Coming, Why Couldn’t Anyone Else?
Wildlight Entertainment has confirmed that Highguard will being offline next week.
“This is the breaking point for a lot of players,” the petition read. “Players have stuck with and supported this company time and time again only for them to give what is, in essence, a middle finger to them in the form of a decision that is only designed to get more money out of their wallets.”
In the interim, some have canceled their Fortnite Crew subscriptions, while others have stated that they will be taking a permanent break from the game. Some see the efforts as futile, as Fortnite is just too giant of a game for any dent to be made.
The V-Bucks Price Hike Did Not Sit Well With Gamers
Price hikes are nothing new. In fact, they’ve become more common than ever. However, it’s the way that things were messaged that hasn’t sat particularly well with gamers, even those who don’t engage with Fortnite.
“The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills,” Epic Games said in the announcement blog post.
That the idea that needing to pay the bills came from a company that’s raking in revenue in the billions is particularly infuriating for gamers. Whether that fury is enough to cause change remains to be seen. Those players are hoping they can convince enough of the game’s base to force Epic’s hand.
