Square Enix will be hosting the annual Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest on April 24, 2026 in California. While there’s still a while for the event, organizers and attendees will be making preparations for the trip. However, fans have already accused the event organizers of neglecting the needs of disabled attendees.

It seems attendees with accessibility requirements are really worried that the organizers will not be able to cater to their needs. The Square Enix forum is filled with people who aren’t very confident that the event will be able to take their needs into account. The biggest concern is that there is reportedly only one point of contact for accessibility concerns.

As reported by Eurogamer, those who require ADA assistance are required to call a third-party organization about their accessibility needs. After discussing them, they only have 24-hours to agree to the accommodations made by them. However, the fact that only a single person is in touch with everyone who needs assistance has people worried that it may not be safe for them to attend.

The worst part is that this isn’t the first time that such concerns have arisen. The 2023 Fan Fest was notorious for the terrible handling of accessibility concerns, and based on the experience that people are having at the moment, there are worries that the upcoming one might turn out to be similar.

FF14 is just more fun when you can tweak things and get some sorely-needed QoL mods up and running.

“When there was an ADA marker in the sign ups for FF 2026, that gave me hope that you all had learned the lessons of FF 23. However, the 3rd party company Square hired has been fumbling the bag repeatedly. There is one singular point of contact for accessibility at this 3rd party company, and she’s under orders to call each person who requests ADA assistance,” said divisionten on the Square Enix forum.

“If we disabled people cannot be granted this, then [Fan Fest] is neither safe nor accessible.”
