Elden Ring was meant to be one of the big third-party games that demonstrated what the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of. Unfortunately, it wasn’t ready to do that, and its release was delayed. Now we’ve got some solid evidence that the Tarnished Edition might finally be ready for public consumption.
Amazon Opens Pre-Orders For Elden Ring On Switch 2
Pre-orders for Elden Ring on Switch 2 still aren’t available through Nintendo. The Tarnished Edition has its own page on the Nintendo website, but that page is still pretty barren and has no mention of a release date. Amazon, however, has decided to go ahead and let people pre-order copies of Elden Ring on Switch 2.
The Duskbloods Will Still Launch This Year Even Though It’s Been AWOL Since Its Reveal
Elden Ring’s delayed Switch 2 launch is also still slated to be here before the end of 2026.
The Amazon page went live on Wednesday evening, and even though there has been no update from Nintendo or FromSoftware, you can go ahead and secure a physical copy of the long-awaited port right now. You will need to part with $79.99 to do so, though, and if Amazon does have inside information on when exactly the Tarnished Edition will be released, it either isn’t ready or isn’t allowed to share it yet.
Amazon has a placeholder date of December 31, 2026, for now. Not an indicator that FromSoft is waiting until New Year’s Eve to finally put Elden Ring on Switch 2, that’s just what Amazon does when it either doesn’t know a game’s release date, or it isn’t allowed to reveal it yet.
Even without a firm release date, pre-orders going live on Amazon is a positive sign that official news is coming soon. Especially when paired with the latest insight into how 2022’s Game of the Year now runs on the latest Nintendo console after being delayed so FromSoft could make some much-needed improvements.
Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition Costs $80
GDC attendees were given the chance to play Elden Ring on Switch 2 last month, and the consensus was that the port is much improved versus the last time people were privy to previews. As for the $80 pricetag, it’s shocking, but somewhat expected.
The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring is the Tarnished Edition. It will include new weapons, new starting classes, but most importantly, it will be the complete edition of Elden Ring, which means it comes with its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Elden Ring can be bought with its DLC on other platforms as a bundle, and that bundle’s MSRP is $79.99. That’s why it stands to reason that the Tarnished Edition, which will seemingly include even more than that bundle, will be $80 when it launches on Switch 2. Here’s hoping that when official word about a new release date for Elden Ring on Switch 2 drops, hopefully in the coming days, that it’s paired with an update on The Duskbloods, the FromSoft Switch 2 exclusive that’s also meant to be releasing this year.
