It may be divisive, but Crimson Desert is a commercial hit. Pearl Abyss has just released the latest sales figures for the game, revealing that it has already shifted five million copies.
Thanks to this success, Pearl Abyss pledges to continue supporting Crimson Desert with updates and patches, addressing the concerns of players and adding new content. But even in its current state, Crimson Desert has clearly found its audience, as it has reached this sales milestone less than a month on from launch.
Crimson Desert Is A Commericial Hit, Surpassing Five Million Copies In A Month
This is a wild milestone to reach so early on, but it shows that all of the attention on Crimson Desert is working in its favour, even if the conversation can veer a little negative every so often.
While reviews from critics and fans are mostly positive, Crimson Desert often faces complaints about its story, lack of identity, and lacklustre main character. But those who are currently sinking hundreds of hours into it clearly don’t mind, and have found plenty of other aspects of the game that they like. Which probably isn’t hard, considering how much is going on in Crimson Desert.
We already know that improvements are on the way, too. Just the other day, we were told to expect difficulty settings in a future update, along with boss rematches and stronghold recaptures. We’ve already gotten updates that improve the controls and make balance changes, and even another one that added new content, so patches are being pushed out pretty quickly.
It will be interesting to see where the sales even out, but it’s already shaping up to be one of the bigger successes of 2026. Admittedly, it is unlikely to take home a bunch of awards towards the end of the year (admittedly, it will probably get some technical awards), but it has very much found its footing, despite all the doubt.
Crimson Desert is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
