Complete Guide To Coins, Chips, And Prizes In Raccoin

Complete Guide To Coins, Chips, And Prizes In Raccoin

While playing Raccoin, you’ll have several features available to you to help you reach the end of your run, and maybe even top your own high score. These power-ups, so to speak, come in the form of Coins, Prizes, and Chips. That said, with so many items to choose from and limited available slots each round, it’s important to know what each type of item does.

Within each of these power-up categories, there are a plethora of options, with some being specific to unique characters and others only activating after certain conditions are met. While you can earn some of these power-ups in the middle of a round, the ones you’ll have direct influence over are the ones you purchase from the shop between rounds.

Special Coins Will Make The Difference Between Winning And Losing

Being a coin pusher game, coins are probably the most important element of the game. The standard coin, also known as the copper coin, will appear in every round and will make up the majority of the coins you collect. In addition to those coins, you’ll also have specialty coins, which are coins that have their own unique effects.

Depending on which Raccoin character you select at the start of your run, certain coins, prizes, and chips will be more likely to appear or may even be completely exclusive. You can view the power-ups unique to each character on the character select screen.

When you reach the shop between each round, you’ll have the option to purchase any of the pre-selected coins being offered to you. Unfortunately, you can only hold a set amount at a time, so if you’re looking to stock up on a variety of coins, then you’ll also need to purchase more coin clips.

Ideally, you’ll want to purchase coin clips that let you store different types of coins first, before you start adding to the clips that let you store multiples of the same coin.

For the most part, coins often interact directly with other coins. For example, a coin may multiply the value of other coins it touches or turn coins into a different type of coin. That said, some coins require other specialty coins to be in play for you to see any benefit to them. The Bunny Coin needs other Bunny Coins present, and the Hunter coins, like the Wolf Coin, require prey, like the Chicken Coin, to be present.

Any purchased coins can be used at any point during the round by selecting them from the clip. Keep in mind, however, that it’s not just thrown into your normal coin drop and will instead come out of the middle of the machine at the angle you drop it.

While coins aren’t the most flashy item in the game, they’re the main thing that will have the biggest impact on your score. Most players will likely prioritize prizes since they appear to collect a significant number of coins. But if you get one of these modifier coins in play alongside some others that convert nearby coins, game-breaking scores will start to become a thing of ease.

Prizes Can Help You Top That High Score

Prizes are also something you’ll be able to purchase between rounds, but you’ll likely encounter them more often through Prize Balls that you earn mid-round. When you see a Prize Ball drop, all you need to do is knock it off to collect it, and it will automatically be sent to your available prize slot.

While there are some instances where holding on to a Prize Ball may be a good idea, such as holding out for a Tower Stack, for the most part, you’ll want to use them right away. This is primarily because you have two available prize slots and are likely to continue to earn more prizes throughout the round. So, if you clog up your open slots, then you’re only hurting yourself.

Additionally, there are rarely circumstances where it would be a poor decision to use a prize. The majority of prizes typically absorb or collect coins in some way, which is almost always going to be a good thing, as it increases your score and potentially helps you get bad coins out of play.

Plus, some prizes require certain conditions to be met before they activate, like the Saucer Figurine that summons the UFO, so if you hold off on placing it, then you may not have time to meet the requirements and actually get any value out of it.

Not to mention, using that same Saucer Figurine prize as an example, some prizes stick around even after their initial use and can be powered up again, so it’s worth having them in play as soon as possible.

Among these items, you’ll also occasionally receive a Keychain at the end of a round, which will give you a permanent buff of some kind for the rest of your run. Keychains cannot be purchased from the shop.

Chips Offer Passive Benefits That Could End Up Saving Your Run

The last main power-up you’ll have a major say in is Chips. Unlike Coins or Prizes, Chips are not a primarily one-time-use item and instead work as a permanent modifier to your run until you sell or replace them. These can also be purchased between rounds, and you can have up to five at any given time.

Chips often have an overall impact on aspects of the game, such as increasing your coin supply at the start of each round, affecting the rarity of items in the shop, triggering events when you reach bankruptcy, and many other features. Since these are passive, it’s a good idea to max out your five available slots when you can, especially since you can always sell them if you find something better.

That said, be wary of chips that may also come with consequences. Not all risks are worth the reward, which is probably not advice you’d expect to hear with a game like this, but it’s true all the same.

Overall, Chips probably aren’t going to be the thing that takes your score from 1,000 to 1,000,000, but they can come in handy when you need that extra push to help you reach the next round.
