Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a pretty strong cast of characters, and as with any piece of media that has strong personalities in it, there will be people out there fighting in the mighty shipping wars. Any fans out there of the new Final Fantasy 7 remakes can tell you just how fierce those battles can get.
Clair Obscur has plenty of shippers out there too, which is helped thanks to the romance system that players can get involved in later in the game. It’s mainly just Verso taking his pick between Sciel and Lune, but that hasn’t stopped fans from shipping other characters, and the Sciel/Lune ship — also known as Scielune — is actually a pretty popular one.
You can easily see why. There are plenty of quiet, special moments between Lune and Sciel, and I don’t know about you, but I can’t say I’ve ever lain on the floor with my bestie, staring up at the stars together.
Kirsty Rider Has Thrown A Bone To The Scielune Shippers
Speaking with our own Rhiannon Bevan on the BAFTA Games Awards red carpet, Rider was asked if she had heard of all the Lune and Sciel shippers out there.
“I have,” Rider says with a smile. “It may be my ship of choice.”
That’s a ringing endorsement right there from the person who brought Lune to life. Rider went on to say that she wasn’t expecting Clair Obscur to amass the fandom that it has, but it has been a very pleasant surprise. “The passion and fervour that fans have is such a joy to see,” she says, while admitting that she “knew it was a special game” before launch, too.
It was another pretty eventful night for Clair Obscur, swiping up three awards, including BAFTA’s award for Debut Game, Performer In A Lead Role (Jennifer English as Maelle), and the coveted Best Game award. If you want to see the full list of all the show’s winners, you can find it here.
