Golden Apples are a precious resource in Crimson Desert that allow you to craft gold bars for an even higher yield. While these items are already expensive, taking the time to craft them into gold bars will increase their value roughly fivefold, so it’s worth the time and effort.
However, first you’ll need to get your hands on these rare Golden Apples, and finding them can be incredibly frustrating if you’re wandering around Hernand without a clue. Luckily, we’ve nailed down the best location to find Golden Apples in Crimson Desert to help speed up your process.
Where To Find A Golden Apple
Head to the river dividing Demeniss and Hernand, northeast of the Hills of No Return.
You’ll arrive at a spot called Grey Rock Dock, which is where you’ll find some hedgehogs who typically carry Golden Apples on their backs.
You’ll need to clear out the Wolf Tracker enemies here before you can hunt for the hedgehogs.
Once the area is liberated, go to the junction with three paths just to the north of the dock, closer to the quarry area.
Try to arrive during the daylight hours before it gets late into the evening, starting around 7:00 pm.
Hedgehogs should appear more frequently from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Follow this path along the left side and down toward the dock, looking along the ground for hedgehogs.
You’ll see them shuffling along, and occasionally, one will be carrying a Golden Apple.
Now, you must have a mask equipped to retrieve the apple from the hedgehog.
Shine your lantern on the Golden Apple Hedgehog and carefully hover over the apple to get the option to steal it. You can also kill the hedgehog with a projectile to more easily grab the apple, but you still need to steal it.

How To Craft A Gold Bar
Now you can choose to sell your apple for 114 silver, or make the wise decision and craft a gold bar using a witch’s cauldron. Here’s how to do it:
- Go to any Witch vendor.
- Navigate over to the Special Item Tab and select ‘Gold Bar’.
- Use the Golden Apple and 3 Gold Ores to craft a Gold Bar.
Another Gold Bar recipe is located at the Spire of Insight in southwestern Hernand if you don’t already have it.
If you want to finish crafting a Gold Bar using the recipe from the Spire of Insight, you’ll need the following items instead:
- 10x Silver Ore
- 3x Brimstone
- 3x Mercury
