Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Details Leak Online

As if there weren’t already enough leaks related to Ubisoft’s long-in-development remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, yet another major leak has broken through.

This time, as a result of seemingly a massive security flaw within the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS), Indonesia’s equivalent to the ESRB or PEGI, gameplay details and descriptions for upcoming games that were submitted privately for ratings classification have leaked online, including one for the Black Flag Remake.

There, it’s revealed that when the Black Flag Remake launches, it’ll have new characters and stories.

“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original,” the game’s description reads. “It follows the story of charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through 18th Century Caribbean with parkours in cities, and battles at seas, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”

Black Flag Is The Only Assassin’s Creed With Modern Day Sections Worth Caring About

I’m going to miss sneaking around Abstergo Industries from a first-person perspective.

It’s unclear who those new characters are, but it’s been reported before that the Black Flag Remake will end up being more than just a fresh coat of paint. Along with new characters and stories, it will also ditch the much-maligned modern-day elements, as well as add in RPG elements that have come to define modern Assassin’s Creed experiences.

As for when we’ll finally see the game in action and a release date, well, that’s still to be determined, though one leaker has stated that an announcement will go live this week on April 16.

The IGRS Leaks Are Sweeping

As VideoGamesChronicle reported, beyond leaking gameplay details, including the reported ending for 007: First Light, thousands of email addresses belonging to game developers were also shared online.

Nic McConnell, the Age Ratings manager at Riot, revealed on Bluesky that the IGRS is a small outfit of people “being given a huge task without real resources.” He shed some light on the process of submitting to the IGRS and just how a leak of this size might happen.

IGRS, best as I can tell, is going through each submission manually (we shared our footage on locked down Google Drive links and just recently got share requests from different IGRS team members). It wouldn’t blow my mind if some links got opened more broadly somehow during that…ad hoc process

As one can imagine, the Black Flag Remake leaks are small potatoes compared to everything else.
