While Pokemon Pokopia doesn’t have any new Pokemon species to introduce, it does introduce some new forms and unique variations of Pokemon to the franchise. However, these forms, which are likely to remain exclusive to this game, are more than just a unique design.
Unlike forms in other games, each new form in Pokemon Pokopia is exclusive to a singular Pokemon of that species, and they feature significant differences from the Pokemon they are based on. All of them are unique and a great addition to the game, but some are still better than others, whether that be because they are more useful or simply feature a more creative design.

DJ Rotom
While DJ Rotom is incredibly cool and feels the most like a new addition, given that Rotom is known for its changing forms, it is also the least feature-rich. Most of the other Pokemon unique to Pokopia offer vital assistance in key story missions as well as beneficial services beyond the story, but Rotom’s specialty is simply playing music for you, specifically the CDs you’ve collected.
Now, don’t get this misconstrued: music is a key part of this immersive and nostalgic experience, but compared to the other Pokemon specialties that aid you in completing objectives or make general tasks significantly easier, this one does fall a little short on the importance scale.

Mosslax
Snorlax is widely considered one of the most popular Pokemon, and to some, even a secondary mascot of the franchise after Pikachu. For this reason, it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken this long to finally see a new variant of this Pokemon. Snorlax has received gimmick-related forms, such as Dynamax and Gigantamax, but never anything that would be considered a regional variant.
Until now, that is, as Mosslax, a moss-covered statue-like version of the Pokemon, plays a major part in Pokopia’s story. Without getting into too many spoilers, Mosslax will play a key role in Bleak Beach’s story.
Additionally, once you have access to the Pokemon yourself, you’ll be able to feed it various foods to trigger different effects in the game thanks to its Eat Specialty. For example, feeding it Spicy food will boost the chance of Pokemon spawns in habitats until the end of the day.

Smearguru
Smearguru is one of the earliest new forms you’ll meet since it will be right out in the open when you arrive in Bleak Beach. Smearguru is a Smeargle that has taken the artist identity just a bit too far. Covered in paint and featuring a rainbow paintbrush tail, Smearguru is responsible for helping you customize Pokopia.
Whereas Mosslax offers you a single passive boost for the rest of the day, you are free to visit Smearguru as much as you’d like, as long as you have the materials necessary.
Smearguru will assist you in painting various objects in a variety of colors and patterns, and even teach you to paint things on your own with Paint Balloons. So, while Smeargle may not be as popular as Snorlax, you’ll likely be visiting this Smeargle a lot more frequently.

Peakychu
Peakychu is the third and final key part of Bleak Beach. At first glance, Peakychu doesn’t appear all that different from a traditional Pikachu with the saturation turned down, but that pale color actually signifies something that makes this Pikachu stand out entirely.
Peakychu isn’t a ghost, as many of us assumed or maybe even hoped; instead, it is a Pikachu that can’t generate its own electricity. After exhausting itself by helping other Pokemon, Peakychu lost the ability to produce any electricity, but can still conduct it with enough charge. So, with a little charge up on the generator, Peakychu can bring light to the town and get all the Pokemon in it up and moving.
While it may not necessarily be as useful as some of the others beyond the main story, it’s still hard not to rank this Pikachu highly. We’ve seen various designs for Pikachu, but most focus on clothing changes or adjusting Pikachu’s roundness. Even the Gigantamax form is just the original design. This is the first truly unique version we’ve seen of Pokemon’s mascot, and nobody expected it.

Tinkmaster
While Pokopia’s Tinkaton may not look incredibly different, this Pokemon has a bit of an upgrade compared to its Scarlet and Violet counterpart. Rather than carrying around a single large hammer, Tinkmaster carries something that feels more like a Swiss Army knife and has an Engineering specialty.
The Engineering Specialty allows Tinkmaster to speed up building projects when assigned to lead them. This is obviously something that would come in handy earlier on, but if you’ve been saving a lot of your reconstruction and building projects for later, then now is the perfect time to jump in. This clever design and incredible specialty make Tinkmaster one of the best new forms in the game.

Chef Dente
While Greedent, who is essentially a large squirrel, may not be the most exciting Pokemon under normal circumstances, Chef Dente is another story. If you hadn’t already guessed, Chef Dente has a knack for cooking and can help you prepare meals that offer a variety of benefits.
Each of the meals you can prepare with Chef Dente boosts your individual transformation abilities temporarily to make them stronger and reveal new features. For example, eating a meal that boosts your Rock Smash transformation will allow you to break things you wouldn’t normally be able to.
Seeing as how Ditto’s transformations are the heart and soul of this game, it’s a no-brainer that Chef Dente’s assistance is heavily valued. Especially with its Party specialty, which allows you to recruit other Pokemon to assist you in cooking even more food.
2
Professor Tangrowth
Professor Tangrowth is perhaps the most surprising new Pokemon form in Pokopia. Overall, it’s not too dissimilar from a traditional Tangrowth other than the glasses and the disc on its head, but the personality makes this particular Pokemon come alive.
Tangrowth is probably a generally overlooked Pokemon in most cases, but in Pokopia, this stand-out Pokemon is one of the most important in the game, if not the most important. Professor Tangrowth analyzes all Ancient Artifacts and essentially acts as your unofficial guide to Pokopia, assisting you any time you have questions about what to do next.
Pokemon Pokopia quite literally could not function without them, so it makes sense that they’re near the top of this list, but it’s also just nice to see a less popular Pokemon have the spotlight for once, as opposed to a more popular species of Pokemon.
1
Ditto
Last, but certainly not least, is Ditto. This is probably one of the most genius ways to utilize Ditto and create this game that Pokemon could have possibly come up with. This unique Ditto, which is technically just a normal Ditto in most capacities, has the ability to not only mimic other Pokemon as it usually does, but also turn into a human trainer.
So, because of that, you’re able to play as a “trainer” while also being able to speak with and interact with Pokemon. The amount of transformations Ditto can take advantage of in this game is astounding and makes it the most impressive Pokemon in the game by far.
If we ever saw a Ditto of this caliber in traditional Pokemon games, it would be unstoppable.
