The Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia teach Ditto several different transformation abilities throughout the game, but not all of them are as useful as others. Some are designed to help you complete the many requests you’ll get, while others are entirely for entertainment.
There’s a chance we will likely see more added to Pokopia if it gets a DLC down the line, but for now, these are all the abilities Ditto currently has access to, ranked by their usefulness in-game.
12
Camouflage
Kicking off the list of Ditto’s abilities is Camouflage. This transformation is learned after reaching Bleak Beach and is, unsurprisingly, taught by Zoroa. Unlike the other transformations Ditto learns, camouflage is probably the only one that doesn’t serve an in-game purpose besides entertainment.
Camouflage allows Ditto to transform into any random object, block, or plant in the game and scoot around while transformed. It can come in handy while playing Hide and Seek with other Pokemon, but the main use is to have fun in multiplayer. If you’re familiar with Prop Hunt for Garry’s Mod, that’s essentially the best use of this ability. Nothing wrong with it, just the least useful in-game.

Rollout
Now, in terms of transformations that are a bit disappointing, Rollout is an ability copied from Graveler and is almost entirely forgettable. Speaking from experience, you can basically finish the game without ever using this ability, and it will make almost no difference.
The best thing about Rollout is that it is a full-body transformation for Ditto, which is visually more fun. Other than that, the only purpose it serves is to allow you to roll around faster than you would normally run as Ditto. This can be useful, but it’s short-lived, as you get the ability to Glide not long after. On top of that, the rolling can be chaotic and annoying to swap in and out of, making it all around just okay.
10
Rototiller
Rototiller is one of the earlier transformations you’ll learn in the game and is taught by Drillbur in the Withered Wasteland. This transformation changes blocks so they’re ready for gardening, also known as tilling.
While it can be a useful skill to know, it is also extremely situational, as you won’t use it often once you’ve established a garden for yourself. So, for that reason alone, it falls pretty low in comparison to some of the skills you’ll be using way more frequently.
9
Cut
Like Rototiller, Cut is also one of the earliest transformations you’ll learn and is taught by Scyther. This transformation allows Ditto to cut through various objects, and is later expanded when you can prepare cooked food, but it still doesn’t see as much use as you’d expect.
You’re not going to find yourself cutting through objects for materials that often, so this will mainly be used when initially cleaning up areas littered with debris. That being said, once everything is cleaned up, this transformation will have exhausted most of its usefulness.
8
Strength
When you finally reach Rocky Ridges, you’ll learn a few new transformations, including Strength. Machoke teaches Ditto this transformation, and it allows you to push large objects around without consuming any of Ditto’s PP.
While this is incredibly useful when needed, it’s much like the Rototiller transformation in the sense that it’s very situational, and you won’t be using it frequently. So, for that reason alone, it’s not nearly as important as some of the others.
7
Water Gun
Water Gun is a special transformation because it’s the first one Ditto learns to use, and Pokopia certainly puts it to work right away. If you’re one of the many who spent hours watering all of Withered Wasteland before you knew it would rain there, you’re not alone.
With that in mind, the rain defeats some of the purpose of this transformation. Yes, it’s still going to be used in times when you need to water a specific patch of blocks at that moment, but you’re not going to get to work using it on the entire region when you know rain will take care of that for you. Once you make some progress, most of its use will come from cooling lava in Rocky Ridges.
6
Leafage
In addition to Water Gun, Leafage is one of the first transformations you’ll learn. Bulbasaur teaches you this early on in the Withered Wasteland, and it’s something you’ll use regularly until the end of the game. This transformation allows Ditto to pull up tall grass out of the ground.
Leafage, unfortunately, isn’t nearly as flashy as some of the full transformations. However, since tall grass is required in most Pokemon habitats, it’s still one of the most important.
5
Surf And Waterfall
Once you start working on Bleak Beach, you’ll eventually meet Lapras, who will teach you to use Surf. This is a full transformation and allows Ditto to swim in water without drowning, all while looking like an adorable Lapras.
If you attempted to hop your way over to the SS Anne or the resort island and were forced to restart several times, then you know this is extremely handy to have access to and makes getting around the area much easier.
That said, it is mainly only useful in Bleak Beach since the others mostly have small ponds, not oceans. However, the eventual upgrade from Gyarados that allows Ditto to use Waterfall in this form as well does make it a bit more handy. Waterfall lets Ditto use Surf to swim up waterfalls in Pokopia.
4
Glide
One of the transformation abilities you’ll be more than ready for by the time you get it is Glide. Dragonite teaches this transformation to Ditto once you reach the Sparkling Skylands, and it is used to Glide from high points to the other islands.
That said, since every area has high points, you’ll likely be using Glide as one of your main travel methods from that point on. In comparison to Graveler’s Rollout transformation, Glide is far more versatile.
Perhaps the only downside of this ability is that it is only a Glide, and not the ability to fly. This means you can’t go higher than your starting point, and you’ll slowly descend as you soar.
3
Suck Up Water
Once you’ve made some progress in Bleak Beach and found Wooper, you’ll be taught the transformation to suck up water. This transformation doesn’t have any physical Pokemon-like changes, but it allows Ditto to use its ability to suck up things and expands that to include water.
With this transformative ability, Ditto can now suck up water from ponds or the ocean and transfer it to a new location, creating waterfalls, lakes, and rivers anywhere you want. Given how much control this provides over customizing the different areas, it’s easily one of the best abilities Ditto learns in the game, even without a visual transformation or frequent use.
