Now that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been released in theatres, you’re probably asking yourself two questions. First, does Bowser have another iconic musical number I won’t be able to get out of my head for months? And two, which bathroom products could defeat him in battle?
The second question was certainly the first thing on my mind, and thankfully, The Mario Galaxy Movie currently has a collaborative collection with Lush, the handmade cosmetics company, so fans can reminisce on their favorite moments from the film while also treating themselves to some self-care.
I had the privilege of checking out this collection for myself, and I was intrigued to discover that, unlike the collaboration Lush had with the first Super Mario Bros. Movie, this collection only features products themed around the Mushroom Kingdom’s heroes, and none of its villains.
The Luma Bubble Bar
If you’re a Mario Galaxy fan in any capacity, then odds are you’re obsessed with these little guys as much as everyone else. They’re small, adorable, and, according to the movies, just slightly unhinged.
The magic of the Lumas is a hard thing to capture, but the Luma Bubble Bar comes pretty close. On the outside, the Luma Bubble Bar resembles a classic smiling yellow Luma, but on the inside, you’ll find a peachy scent ready to fill your bath with bubbles as tiny stars shimmer and swirl around you.
But could this Luma Bubble Bar defeat Bowser? Well, no. While adorable and whimsical, the Bubble Bar, much like an actual Luma, is no match for the intensity of Bowser. But it is a good way for you to relax after watching Mario and his friends do it in the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
Princess Peach Crown Soap
When you think about bar soaps, you probably think of smooth little bars perfect for gliding over your skin, not pointy tiaras. Thankfully, the Princess Peach Crown Soap isn’t nearly as sharp as the real thing and leaves your skin with the lingering scent of strawberries as you go about your day.
I did wonder why the scent wasn’t Peaches instead of Strawberries, but then decided it was probably presumptuous of me to assume that Peach smells like Peaches just because it’s in her name. I mean, you probably don’t smell like your name.
As for whether the Princess Peach Crown Soap could defeat Bowser, it’s complicated. If there’s anything Bowser has a weakness for, it’s Princess Peach. That said, the one thing Bowser always has his heart set on in relation to her is taking Peach away from her castle, so I think he’d be ready to get rid of any ties to the Mushroom Kingdom the first chance he got. And does turning him into Bowsette count as defeating him?
The Lumas Shower Jelly
What’s better than one Luma? Tons of Lumas. While the Luma Bubble Bar is a nice way to relax and elevate a traditional bubble bath, the Lumas Shower Jelly is perhaps one of the most fascinating things I’ve ever seen.
If you’re unfamiliar with Shower Jellies, as I was before a kind Lush employee named Nic explained them to me, they’re essentially a wiggly little squishy cylinder that you rub on your body like a bar of soap. My mind was blown by the idea of using what closely resembles a cup of Jell-O to shower with, and it’s an experience everyone needs to have for themselves.
The Lumas Shower Jelly, in particular, is fruit-scented and contains several tiny Luma soaps swimming throughout it. Now, did I have to fight the urge to rip it open and take out all the Lumas? Yes. Do I think this is one of the most fun and whimsical shower items I’ve ever used? Also yes.
But can the Lumas Shower Jelly take on Bowser? Probably not. I’d like to believe that even the biggest bad in Super Mario wouldn’t be able to resist being captivated by this fascinating little wiggly wonder, but, at the end of the day, he could easily stomp this little jelly, Luma shower gummies, and all.
Mario, Luigi, And Protect The Galaxy Shower Gels
If, like me, you’ve only ever imagined that Mario and Luigi probably smell like the sewers they’re traveling through so often, then you’re probably also scared to find out what the Mario and Luigi Shower Gels smell like. Thankfully, I can confirm that it’s nothing plumbing-adjacent.
That being said, I can’t say I would’ve guessed what the actual scents were either. Both Shower Gels match the vibrant color of the character they’re associated with, Mario’s being red and Luigi’s being Green, but Mario’s scent is reminiscent of Coca-Cola, while Luigi’s is closer to green apple candy.
Both are incredibly sweet-smelling, which only complements the third Shower Gel in this collection, Protect The Galaxy. This dark purple, shimmering, cosmic-looking shower gel has a scent I can only describe as sour gummy worms, but it is actually meant to be a mixture of apples and blueberries. It’s sort of like you’ve fallen into the candy rack at the movies.
Can these Shower Gels defeat Bowser? Of course! Mario and Luigi are an iconic pair that haven’t let anyone or anything stand in their way. Anything inspired by the bane of his existence is guaranteed to strike fear into the heart of Bowser, whether it be themed shower gels or the brothers themselves.
The Princess Power Body Balm, Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub, And Princess Peach Lip Jelly
A Mario Galaxy Collection wouldn’t be complete without proper attention given to the iconic women of this story, Princess Peach and Princess Rosalina. In addition to Peach’s Crown Soap, the other royalty-centered items you can find in this collection are the Princess Power Body Balm, Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub, and Princess Peach Lip Jelly.
While these two Princesses are phenomenal enough on their own, like their inspired Lush lip products, they’re even better together. Between the Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub and the Princess Peach Lip Jelly, your lips will be hydrated and glistening like those of royalty.
Speaking of the power of Peach and Rosalina together, you can’t forget about the Princess Power Body Balm. In addition to your moisturized lips, you can give your entire body the Edward Cullen treatment with this body balm to have it shimmering under the sun.
As for whether these items from the collection could take on Bowser, do I even need to say it? Anything designed with these two in mind is a no-brainer. Princess Peach and Princess Rosalina have everyone, characters and fans alike, in a chokehold, and Bowser is no exception to that. This would be over before it started.
The Princess Rosalina Body Spray
Of course, while Rosalina is great alongside the iconic Princess Peach, she deserves her own moment to shine as wellBeing one of the most expensive pieces of this collection, it would be nice to see the Princess Rosalina Body Spray in packaging that felt a little more representative of Rosalina herself, but at the end of the day, it’s what’s inside that counts.
I’m pretty sensitive to strong smells and often stay clear of intense perfumes for that reason, but this body spray might just be the perfect middle ground. There is a noticeable scent, as you’d hope, but it’s subtle and almost smells more like a massage oil than a traditional body mist. It makes you feel like you just walked into a relaxing spa and not like you’re being strangled by a perfume cloud.
As for whether this product could defeat Bowser, again, Princess Power wins out. I can almost imagine Bowser floating along the scent trail like a character in an old cartoon that’s just caught a whiff of a freshly baked pie.
The Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb
Last, but certainly not least, is the Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb. There’s no shying away from the fact that this is clearly intended to be the focus product of the collection. For one thing, it’s massive. Just imagine the largest bath bomb you’ve ever used, and I promise it’s still not as large as this one at nearly 12 ounces.
Once dropped in the water and activated, this bath bomb reveals one of four unique power-ups hidden inside, in the form of a shower gummy. The water will turn a unique color based on the power-up inside your egg, which can include a blue ice flower, red fire flower, green mushroom, or golden coin.
You could chuck this thing at Bowser, and he’s dropping like a sack of potatoes, but why waste it on him? Drop that Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb into your bath instead, grab your Nintendo Switch, pop in your favorite Mario game, and deal with Bowser yourself from the sudsy, powered-up comfort of your Lush x Super Mario Galaxy Movie-themed bath.
The Lush x Super Mario Galaxy Movie collection will be leaving shelves mid-April 2026, so don’t waste any time if you have your eye on something!
