The stars finally seem to be aligning for Starfield on PS5.

The game, once coveted by Sony as a PS5 console exclusive, was part of Microsoft’s big Xbox push following its acquisition of publisher Bethesda.

But a lot has changed since the space-faring RPG’s release in 2023, and now a PlayStation version seems all but inevitable. Reliable rumourmongers have pointed to a 7th April release.

And we may find out as early as next week, if a post on social media is to be believed.

In response to a PC Gamer article describing director Todd Howard as a visionary, a spokesperson for the studio said:

“We ran this by Todd and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.”

A new version of Starfield is expected to revamp the overall experience, although Howard has warned that if you didn’t like the core game this won’t change your opinion.

It’s expected that the PS5 version of the RPG will launch alongside the new update, as well as a second expansion pack as well.

On that note, one Portuguese retailer has started taking pre-orders for the PS5 version of the game, which it’s listed for a 7th April release.

It’s unclear if it has access to official information or is simply reacting to the abovementioned rumours, but all should be revealed in the coming days.
