Pokemon Is Seemingly Getting An Anniversary Heinz Ketchup Collab

Pokemon Is Seemingly Getting An Anniversary Heinz Ketchup Collab

In case it wasn’t already abundantly clear, Pokemon is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, which means we’re going to get a ton of merchandise to commemorate the milestone. I mean, we already do get a ton of merch as it is, but there are already plans for so much more, including this monochromatic Pikachu that Japan was seemingly ill prepared for.

On the heels of the Pokemon Day stream, Heinz, the popular American ketchup brand, is teasing its own collaboration with Pokemon. Yes, you read that correctly. We’re almost certainly getting a 30th anniversary limited-edition Pokemon-themed ketchup bottle.

As it stands, only the Japanese Heinz account has teased a collaboration. However, the American version of Heinz is no stranger to weirdness, including the recently-released keg of ketchup, AKA, the KegChup.

Either way, given how people have behaved in the past for Pokemon-related things, there’s no doubt that there will be a fight or two for a bottle of ketchup and loads of scalping along the way.

Are Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Really Worth $20 On Switch? It’s Complicated…

Two classic Game Boy Advance Pokemon titles are coming to Nintendo Switch.

It wouldn’t be a Pokemon release without it, truthfully.

Pokemon Is No Stranger To Some Strange Collabs, So Ketchup Fits Right In

Lest we forget that not even a year ago, there was an entire batch of Campbell’s Soup that had Pokemon labels affixed to them that quickly became a hot item among collectors. It didn’t help that a special can of “Pewter City Special Stew” was limited to those who were able to find all eight cans of the regular soup.

This ketchup collab also wouldn’t even be the first time that Heinz and Pokemon crossed over, as back in 2000, there were some Pokemon Pasta Shapes in Tomato Sauce that were also released, one in Blastoise variety and another in Charziard red.

Heck, there was even Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire shampoo and someone — wait for it — managed to catch ‘em all. Which is to say, this Pokemon collab doesn’t even hit the mark for the weirdest of all time.
