If your Heartopia evenings have been feeling a little too dull, the Sea Lantern Event is here to light things up. For a limited time, the coastline turns into a glowing stretch of floating wishes and softly bobbing lanterns drifting out to sea. It is a community events that blends together creativity with a touch of sentiment.
Of course, participating is not as simple as walking onto the beach and tossing something into the waves. There are a few steps involved, a couple of items to secure, and a specific spot you will need to find. Here is everything you need to know to get started.
What Is The Sea Lantern Event?
The Sea Lantern Event in Heartopia is a limited-time community celebration that runs until March 9. During the event, you can gather along the coastline to release lanterns into the ocean and leave heartfelt messages for others to read. The shoreline is filled with floating lights and lotus blooms, each one carrying a wish written by someone in the community.
The event is centered around reflection and connection. You can walk along the beach and interact with lanterns that other players have placed, reading their wishes and sentiments and leaving likes on your favorites.
In addition to viewing messages, you can also release your own lantern or place a lotus-shaped Blessing Sea Lantern with a custom note attached.
Because messages are visible to others and can be reported, it is important to keep everything appropriate and respectful.

How To Get Sea Lanterns
To participate, you first need to purchase or craft a lantern. Open the event icon tab at the top right of your screen and select the Sea Lantern Sentiments event. Inside this menu, look for the shop icon in the bottom right corner. From here, you can obtain the standard Wishing Sea Lantern.
If you want to place a lotus-style lantern, you will need to craft the Blessing Sea Lantern instead. This item is a recipe you buy rather than a direct purchase.
To craft it at a crafting table, you need:
- 15 Timber
- 15 Quality Timber
- One Flawless Fluorite
After crafting, you can even dye it to your preferred color before placing it. Light blue is what I chose, but you can customize it however you like.
Once you have your lantern ready, head to the coastline and interact with one of the lantern release points (they look like four lanterns grouped together). Select the Wishing Sea Lantern you purchased and choose ‘Release Into The Sea’.
This triggers an animation where your character gently pushes the lantern into the water. If you crafted a Blessing Sea Lantern, you can place it directly in the beach area and attach a message for others to read.
Where Is The Sea Lantern Event?
The Sea Lantern Event takes place along the coastline between Windmill Flower Field and Amethyst Beach. If you are unsure of the exact location, open the event tab and select ‘Lantern Release Point Tracker’ to guide you there.
Once you arrive, look for a cluster of four lanterns along the shore. This marks the main interaction point for releasing your lanterns into the sea. From there, you can explore the beach, read community messages, and add your own wish before the event ends on March 9.
