Arc Raiders’ Shrouded Sky update is now live, bringing with it hurricanes, two new Arc, a bunch of new skins, and, most importantly, facial hair. Like with most other live-service games, you can expect some server issues as the new update arrives, but they should get sorted in a matter of hours.
Aside from all these additions, the update also featured a slew of balance changes to the game’s weapons. The changes that stand out the most is the Stitcher and Kettle finally getting nerfed. While the two are starter weapons, the community agrees that they are much better than late-game weapons, one upgraded a bit.
A Stitch In Time
The patch notes have detailed out all the changes and adjustments that came with the update. Embark explained why each weapon got nerfed or buffed, giving players an understanding of why they needed to be adjusted. I have to say, this is something that other devs should also follow: explaining adjustments instead of just stating them.
In the case of the Stitcher, the patch notes said that the high time-to-kill, along with the weapon’s high headshot multiplier, made it almost impossible to reach then someone ambushes you with it. For this reason the headshot multiplier has been reduced from 2.5 to 1.75, base damage has been reduced from 7 to 6.5, and shot dispersion has been increased by 50 percent.
As for the Kettle, the devs noted that “in a bit of a weird place.” While it was intended as a medium-range weapon, players turned it into an SMG by bringing it to close-quarters fights as an SMG. Embark didn’t want to change that entirely, so it only sees its base damage reduced from 10 to 8.5.
Other popular weapons have also seen some changes. For instance, the Wolfpack’s value has increased from 5,000 to 6,000, and its Refined Explosive cost has also been reduced. However, you’ll now need a Rocketeer Driver to craft it.
