One of the biggest aspects of cozy gaming is pulling off the most adorable persona you can. This includes shopping to keep the trendiest and coziest outfits in your closet and ensuring your hair is exactly how you want it so you’re ready for the cozy chores you need to complete that day.
When you first start Heartopia, you’ll be able to do some slight customization to your character, but you’ll also see a message stating you can change your appearance later on in the game. Not only new clothes, though, but you’ll also get access to new hair options and even new eye colors you’ll need to unlock.
How To Change Your Appearance
When you first start the game, you’ll need to follow through the tutorial until you head to town and begin to interact with shop owners. On your way to town you’ll pick up a flyer from the floor after interacting with an adorable kitten.
Take this flyer to the clothing shop and hand it over to Dorothee to unlock the My New Clothes quest. Follow the questline as you help her unpack, and you’ll get a chance to finally buy new clothes from the shop.
Continue the storyline, and you’ll unlock the Dress-Up feature, allowing you to change your clothes anywhere.
As far as hair and eye color and other non-clothing options you can customize, you’ll be able to change these after you’ve accepted and completed Dorothee’s Resident Request, once you unlock the feature after speaking to Atara.
You’ll receive a letter in the mail notifying you that Dorothee updates the store every day, and now that everything is done, she can focus on styling.
Styling includes changing your hair, eye color, skin color, eye shape, hair color, and more. These changes can be made at any mirror; however, when it’s first unlocked, you probably won’t own a mirror of your own.
Luckily, you can head up to the second floor in the shop and interact with one of the mirrors to change your appearance.
The interact button won’t show up until after you’ve completed the Resident Request and received the letter in the mail; going upstairs before this won’t trigger anything, as you won’t be able to interact with the mirror.

How To Unlock New Hairstyles And Eye Colors
You’ll see when you look in the mirror that you can unlock several more options for eye shapes, eye colors, hairstyles, beards, face makeup, eyebrows, and more.
To unlock these, you’ll need to increase your D.G. Member level.
D.G. Member level six unlocks the first set of new physical appearance options, adding new eyes with eye colors, new pupils, new hair options and hair color gradient options, new eyebrows, beards, and face paint.
You’ll still have a few locked, and those can be unlocked once you reach D.G. Member level ten.
You cannot do this immediately, as you can only collect a certain amount of Contribution Medals per day, preventing you from leveling up your D.G. Member level too fast. You’ll need to play for a few days before you can unlock all the available options.
