Xbox has teased that 2026 is a “big year for games ending in 6” and, while it’s clearly just hyping up GTA 6 and Forza Horizon 6, it’s got the hopes up of every Elder Scrolls and Persona fan.
As anyone who is waiting for any kind of update on GTA 6 will no doubt know, this year is shaping up to be one of the biggest for gaming in quite some time. Although GTA 6 is undoubtedly the biggest thing we’ll be getting this year (unless Half-Life 3 really does get announced soon), there’s plenty of other games to get excited for.
Strangely, there’s already a bit of a theme emerging for 2026, as there are two massive games that are the sixth entry in their series – Forza Horizon 6 and the aforementioned and eternal GTA 6. This is something that Xbox harmlessly pointed out in a recent tweet, but its thoughtless wording has got other hungry fanbases chomping at the bit.
But Come On, It’s Just About GTA And Persona… Right?
Yesterday, Xbox announced its next Developer Direct, which will focus on Fable, Beast of Reincarnation, and Forza Horizon 6. That announcement led one Twitter user, UsagiMoonIight, to repost the tweet and say that they’re more excited for Forza than GTA at the moment.
This fairly safe response prompted a reply from Xbox, who said that it’s a “big year for games ending in 6”. While the context of the tweet makes it pretty clear that Xbox just wanted to hype up both Forza Horizon 6 and GTA 6, whoever posted the tweet might have wanted to think about another massively anticipated Xbox game that ends in 6 – The Elder Scrolls 6.
As soon as Xbox tweeted about it being a big year for games ending 6, Elder Scrolls fans latched onto it as a knowing wink to TES 6. The replies to the tweet are mostly from fans taking the innocuous tweet as a tease for Elder Scrolls news, including a tweet from The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages that simply says, “Please end our torment”.
It’s not just Elder Scrolls hopefuls that have taken the tweet as a tease, either, as Persona fans are also getting in on the copium and viewing Xbox’s response as a hint at news to come. To be fair, Persona 6 seems a bit more likely considering the 30th anniversary celebrations, but it’s a bit of a stretch for a tease to randomly come from the Xbox Twitter account. Still, for many, hope is pretty much all we have for these games.
