Where To Scan All Logbook Entries In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Where To Scan All Logbook Entries In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

The logbook is a staple of every Metroid Prime game, with Samus constantly taking the time to analyse not only her enemies, but all the very pieces of machinery and architecture around her. It’s a great method of worldbuilding, and forces you to engage with the world.

This is the same in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, even with the Psychic Visor. And just like previous entries, there are a few scans that are, by the smallest slip of the mind, possible to miss entirely, never to be found again. So provided you’re not too far into the game, we can make sure you don’t miss a single one.

What Is The Logbook?

The Gal Fed section of the logbook in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Whenever you scan something in Metroid Prime, a brief description of what you scanned will appear, and at times may ask you to access the Logbook for more information. This is where all of your scans are stored, provided there is enough information to expand upon.

As such, not literally everything is added to the Logbook after being scanned, just those that ask you to open the Logbook for more information after being scanned. These are the only items we need to fill the Logbook, so the likes of doors, ammo, and so on are not necessary scans.

Missable Logbook Scans

A player beating the Carvex boss in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

There are a series of scans that are entirely missable in the game. Not many, but a few. These are mainly bosses, scans from the tutorial, and other one-off enemies. Here’s all of them:

  • Galactic Federation Soldier
  • Space Pirate
  • Aberax
  • Sylux
  • Lockjaw
  • Carvex Vines
  • Carvex’s Pollen Sacs
  • Swim Snatcher
  • Behemoth

On top of these scans, every single boss is also missable. Some of them, such as those that have been controlled by Sylux through Metroids, can be scanned again through holograms in Fury Green.

This will not given you any additional scans like Carvex’s vines or pollen sacs, however.

The Reward For 100% Logbook Scans

samus in metroid prime 4. Nintendo

By itself, there is no reward for 100% Logbook scans, in the same way there is no reward for getting 100% of items. Instead, the reward comes when you get 100% on both of them.

With this, you will unlock a slightly alternate version of the final cutscene of the game, showing Samus removing her helmet. An extra post-credits scene will also be shown, giving further backstory to Sylux.

This cutscene with Sylux can also be viewed whenever through the use of his amiibo.
