Nintendo promised it would have Spotify Wrapped-style recaps for us in the new year, and it has duly delivered. It has actually gone one better as not only has Nintendo put together personal summaries of our last 12 months across the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, but it has wound the clock all the way back to the beginning of the Switch era.
Even though it has been dubbed a Year-In-Review, it’s actually an entire console generation in review. A generation and a bit if you want to get literal about it, since the Switch 2 took the Nintendo reins for the final half of 2025. After you’ve been shown how many hours you spent with your Nintendo consoles, which games you’ve played the most, and a detailed breakdown of your “gaming style”, the recap steps into a Switch-shaped time machine.
A Detailed Breakdown Of Your Entire Time With The Nintendo Switch
Despite how much effort has gone into creating it – these things cost a lot of money, just ask Xbox – the rest of your Nintendo Wrapped timeline is easy to miss. You need to scroll past the snapshot of your 2025 summary and the poll asking which game you liked the most, followed by a sea of red that just feels like the end of the page.
Keep scrolling, and a white 2025 will appear. Scroll some more, and that 2025 will be placed on a timeline. You’ll then be taken all the way back to the launch of the original Switch in 2017, or the year that you bought your Switch if you didn’t pick one up during that first year.
Looking Back On The Switch 2’s First Year, Players Are Unhappy With The Battery Life And Key Cards, But Love The Games
Did the Switch 2 live up to your expectations?
The rest of the review is like a personal museum of your history with Nintendo’s two newest consoles. After being told when you fired up your Switch for the first time, you can scroll, year-by-year, checking out the first time you played every game you have ever played on the Switch and Switch 2. If you stop on a tile, your hours played will appear.
There are also detailed breakdowns of every single year you’ve owned a Switch. Just click the “see your stats” button at the bottom of the screen when you hover over a game on the timeline. From there, you’ll find a dropdown in the top corner that includes every year for you to choose from.
Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom, where you can watch the screen fill with tiles, the size of which are dictated by how much you’ve played those games. It’s incredibly satisfying.
Where To Go If You Can’t Find Your Nintendo Year-In-Review
Quite a few of you had trouble accessing your Nintendo years in review this time 12 months ago. If you’re having trouble again this year, you might want to check your account settings. Go to Nintendo Account > Privacy and Other Information > Usage Information. There, you will have to check Yes on “Allow Nintendo to collect optional device data on Nintendo consoles that you use”, and also Allow Nintendo to process your usage information to customise services, offers and recommendations”. Click confirm, head back to the Year-In-Review link, and almost a decade of personalized Nintendo history should be waiting for you.
