Where To Find Azure Kelp For A Portal In Hytale

The world of Hytale is both dangerous and mystical, with monstrous creatures of the Void coming out at night and undead warlocks hiding away in ruined towers. Magic isn’t only for them, though, as you can utilize it as both a weapon and a tool to make your life easier.

Hytale: Complete Guide To Animals

Start a farm by your base, or hunt specific animals as you explore to gather some pretty desirable resources.

Besides the ability to make healing potions or blast enemies with fire, you can craft magical Teleporters that allow you to cross massive distances with ease, but you’ll need some equally magical ingredients to craft them. You’ll need to find the mysterious Azure Forest if you want to make traveling to spots you’ve been to before much easier.

Hytale is currently in Early Access, and the information below may be subject to change at a later date.

One of the main components for building a Teleporter is Azure Kelp, and this rare material can only be found in one location: the Azure Forest. The Azure Forest is a sub-biome specific to the Zone One Biomes, and you’ll recognize it from afar thanks to its deep-blue grass, spiral-shaped trees with blue leaves, and it’ll be just as blue on the map.

Within the Azure Forest, you’ll need to look for lakes and rivers to find Azure Kelp, as it only grows in water that’s at least two blocks deep. You’ll generally see it at the bottom of lakes or a bit of the plant sticking out of the water.

Night is a great time to search for Azure Kelp, as it glows in the darkness, and you can see it from afar if any pools of water are illuminated and the sparkles it produces are more visible. Void enemies don’t spawn as frequently in the Azure Forest at night, either.

Make sure to harvest it with the Interact With A Block key, as whacking it with a tool like an Axe or Sickle will give you Azure Petals instead, which aren’t used for any recipes at the time of this article.

Azure Kelp’s main and only use is for crafting Teleporters at an Arcanist’s Table, which, when placed, allow you to fast travel between two locations as long as the Portals have been linked together.

Make sure to grab some Azure Wood from the trees if it’s your first time visiting the biome, as you need 100 Logs to upgrade the Armorer’s Workbench to Tier Two.

Each Teleporter takes two Azure Kelp, which is extremely cheap considering how many you tend to find even within smaller Azure Forests, and the fact that you can find multiple Azure Forests across Zone One.
