Keepsakes are things you can acquire in Cairn to help give your backpack a bit more personality. You can have one attached to your bag at all times as you climb your way up the mountain.
None of the keepsakes provide any gameplay benefit. They’re mainly there to look good and serve as collectibles for you to find. There are 17 of them in the game in total. Some you get from DLC and making choices in the story, and others you have to seek out. Here is where to get them all.
You can work out what areas are called by heading into ‘load game’ from the pause menu and hovering over save spots.
Story-Related And DLC Keepsakes
You don’t have to find the following keepsakes since they’re part of either DLC or the story.

Keepsakes Locations
For the following keepsakes, you have to find and acquire them.
Tenzen Keepsake Location
You can find the Tenzen keepsake in the tutorial area.
It’s on top of the number eight climbing wall.
Alpine Cola Keychain Keepsake Location
In The Shortcut area, there is an abandoned cable car station.
On the outside, there is a broken vending machine that contains the Alpine Cola Keychain keepsake.
Trout Keepsake Location
Trout can be found in a few different areas in the game, such as The Waterfall and The Mirror. Just look for any large bodies of water with fish swimming around.
Walk into the water and press the on-screen button prompt to put your hand in. Then, wait until a fish swims into your palm and grab it. The creature serves as a keepsake.
Frog Keepsake Location
Near the large child statue in The Child area, you can find a cave. Inside, there is a frog hopping around.
You need to walk up to it and hit the button that appears on screen to lick it. This gets you the Frog keepsake.
Troglodyte Amulet Keepsake Location
You can find the Troglodyte Amulet inside the big child statue in The Child area.
Once you’re inside, you can find the amulet at the feet of the indoor statue.
Chimes Keepsake Location
The Chimes keepsake is in the Shepherdess’s camp, which is in The Vault area. You can find The Vault area right across from The Child area.
Once you’re in the region, the Shepherdess’s camp is easy to find since it’s the only place around there that is lit up. While at the camp, look for the bookshelves, as that is where the Chimes keepsake is.
Troglodyte Doll Keepsake Location
To get the Troglodyte Doll keepsake, you need to build the doll by acquiring three parts. Here are their locations:

Doll Part One |

The part labeled Doll Part One can be found in The Vault area. This is directly across from The Child area. You need to rappel down there and shimmy around the rock. Then, you can find it on a much smaller rock. |

In The Terraces area, you can find a large triangle-shaped cave. Doll Part Two is outside of that cave, right below the entrance. You can rappel down to it. |

Doll Part Three is in The Child area. It’s right above the large child statue. |
Crystal Shard Keepsake Location
To get the Crystal Shard, you first need to give four of them to the Crystal Cutter in the Palace of Wind area. He is located inside the Palace, about midway up.
When you’re in the general area, look for a set of stairs, surrounded by yellow crystals. Go down them, and enter the room at the bottom. This is where you will find the Cutter. After the initial cutscene with him, you will then need to find four Crystal Shards and give them to him.

To reach the final shard, return to the stairs you went down earlier. You will notice a few little gaps in the staircase. The gap further down the stairs contains a shard. |
Once you have the shards, hand them over to the Cutter one-by-one. He will give you the Small Windmill upgrade, and you also get the Crystal Shard keepsake.
Troglodyte Badge Keepsake Location
When you’re in the inside part of The Dome, you will come across some markings on the wall and three pots of resin.
To get this badge, you need to be on at least your second playthrough. Once you are, light up the pot containing a single solid line and two dotted lines, which is the one on the right.
If you light that pot up on your first playthrough, you will be cursed, and all your Pitons will be broken.
Troglodyte Pennant Keepsake Location
After the cutscene where you meet Damas (Grandpa), you wake up in a bed. Head out of the room and turn left.
Follow the path around to reach a new area containing a stove. On one of the tables in there, you can find the Troglodyte Pennant.
Climbot Keepsake
You don’t actually find the Climbot keepsake, so it doesn’t have a specific location. Instead, you get it automatically by repairing 15 Pitons using Piton scraps.
To do this, you need to get the scraps by failing to perfectly push Pitons into the wall. Then, you need to enter your tent and interact with your Climbot. This brings up a menu where you can turn scraps into repaired Pitons.
