Where To Find A Shovel In Pathologic 3

As you make your way through Pathologic 3‘s twisting storyline, you’ll have the chance to save people, condemn others, and generally alter the course of the town’s history. From the beginning of the game, once you have time travel unlocked, you’re presented with multiple souls who need a little help from Daniil Dankovsky.

Rubin is one of those people, and he needs… quite a lot of help. Rescuing him on Day 3 will have him telling you to visit him on the following day. Trying to do that, however, is a fool’s errand: he’s been buried alive.

How To Save Rubin On Day 4

The first requirement to this Thought quest is that you save Rubin’s life on Day 3. This is what allows him to survive long enough to become endangered on Day 4.

When you wake up on Day 4, you can speak to Grace at the Stillwater to learn of a person buried alive in the graveyard. This is Rubin, naturally. To save him, you’ll need to make your way to the graveyard immediately – time is of the essence with this quest, if you try to save him too late in the day, he will be dead.

Upon arriving at the graveyard, head to the south-eastern corner of the map. Here, you’ll find a fresh grave with a bell on top of it.

If the bell is ringing, you know that Rubin is still alive and can be dug out (you will need a shovel, though!).
If the bell is silent, Rubin is dead and you’ll need to restart the day to try again. Thankfully, restarting a day (without changing days) doesn’t cost any Amalgam.

It’s handy to handle this quest sooner rather than later – the more quests you finish on a particular day, the later your day will start when you begin the day again. If you save saving Rubin for last, you won’t have much time at all to save him.
