Ubisoft’s Six Canceled Games Include Two Assassin’s Creed Projects

We’ve known that Ubisoft canceled The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake for weeks. Simultaneously, we learned that several other games got canned alongside it. What we didn’t know, however, was what they were.

If today’s report proves true—and, given the source, I’m willing to call it highly probable—that burning question has been answered. Strap yourself in.

Codenames Included

Feast your eyes on the video above, or check out Insider Gaming’s article instead, which jumps straight to the point. Or stick with me whilst I quickly jot down what they’ve learned:

  • Assassin’s Creed Rebellion: Technically, it’s the end of support for this mobile game, rather than an unannounced cancelation. But it’s effectively dead and dusted.
  • Assassin’s Creed Singularity: A mobile game that was never announced. It’s been nixed.
  • Project Crest: An extraction shooter modeled after World War II.
  • Project Ether: Insider Gaming reports this was in development since 2019. At some point, it was canned; eventually, however, it “morphed” into a different project. This happens kind of often in the industry. Alas, it’s gone again.
  • Project Pathfinder: Previously referred to as Project U. That’s all we’ve got.

This is all in conjunction with a reportedly canceled multiplayer Assassin’s Creed game, plus Invictus, which is supposedly… not good. Taken in sum, what this really tells us is that a lot more people are about to lose their jobs. Which is my least favourite thing to report on in this job, and I would imagine many others in my field feel similarly. But in case you’ve not been paying attention over the past few years, it keeps happening. A lot.

We may learn more details about the nebulous codenamed projects in the weeks to come, in which case, TheGamer will be sure to keep you posted.

I guess that makes it canon now.
