Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 3 and Gets New Showrunner

Twisted Metal TV

The TV adaptation of classic PlayStation series Twisted Metal has been renewed for a third season by Peacock, Variety reports. The outlet also states David Reed will be joining as showrunner, replacing Michael Jonathon Smith.

Variety claims Reed will join as showrunner and executive producer for the third season of Twisted Metal as part of a deal with Sony Pictures Television. Previously, Reed has served as a writer on The Boys, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and The Magicians.

While we didn’t get around to reviewing the second season, it’s done well enough to get the greenlight for a third batch of episodes. In our review of the first season, we said the “show works – depending on your penchant for cheesy, gratuitous grindhouse gore. This is a silly, ostentatious slice of car crash television – but despite a wafer-thin plot and an unsatisfying conclusion, we enjoyed it overall.”
