If you’re a fan of dinosaurs, then living in the big 2025 is pretty hard, all things considered. Between a lack of video games, mediocre movies like Jurassic World Rebirth and just a general malaise surrounding the extinct creatures, things are rough.
That said, things could get better with Turok Origins, the first true new entry in the once-Nintendo 64 franchise since the reboot in 2008. Announced during last year’s edition of The Game Awards, the franchise is making a comeback via Saber Interactive, the team that gave us Space Marine 2, a revival of the Warhammer-centric third-person shooter that last appeared in 2011.

Why Space Marine 2 Makes Us So Nostalgic For The Xbox 360
Space Marine 3 captures a moment in time that has long left us behind.
Its comeback could happen as soon as 2026 if recent reporting is to be believed.
2026 Keeps Getting More And More Stacked, And My Wallet Stays Crying With Each Passing Day
As first reported by MP1st, a sound designer at Saber Interactive that is currently working on Turok Origins has listed on his LinkedIn profile page that the game is “forthcoming” in 2026. A more concrete window is not listed, though it seems Saber is keeping its prospects open.
Nothing official has been revealed yet, but bear in mind, this year’s edition of The Game Awards is happening in just 11 days. In other words, if there was ever a good time to re-reveal the game with a release date, it’s probably then. After all, the original reveal did just happen at the same event.
Earlier this year, TheGamer’s Jade King got a chance to preview the game, noting that it has a “killer aesthetic” and a solid soundtrack, but it’s push for a co-op type of experience detracts from things mightily.
“If this was positioned as a new single-player experience, instead of a by-the-numbers co-op shooter, part of me is convinced it could have been something special,” part of Jade’s preview read. “But the sad truth is that everything about it is dry, predictable, and representative of industry trends I wish would go away.”
Here’s hoping that if the game is ready to come out next year, the final product is a bit better than what we’ve seen. Then again, us dinosaur fans have been used to disappointment.
